What machines are covered by this service?

This service is for A1226 & A1260 models that look like the laptops above. Not to be confused with A1150 & A1211 models - the latter models look the same as the former. The only way to tell them apart from the outside is to look at the number on the bottom of the laptop.

How does this work?

If you live in NYC, come to the workshop @ 186 1st Avenue in the East Village to have your LCD screen replaced in ten minutes while you watch. We're the storefront inbetween Atomic Wings & A1 Music. Or, call to set up a house call to your home or office.

If you don't live in New York City, purchase this service using the add to cart button at the bottom. Send your machine to the mail in service address in our banner at the top. It'll be fixed and sent back to you in under 12 hours after arrival. Your package MUST REQUIRE A SIGNATURE so we can sign for it, and it must be packaged properly, with a note or a receipt inside indicating who you are & that you purchased our service.

Where do you get these parts from? Is this an Apple LCD?

It's an AU Optronics B154PW04. You can always purchase the part by itself from our supplier company here.

A big problem witrh this LCD was that it was never manufactured in large quantities, so the only ones left now are refurbished. You can tell oor quality refurbs from polarizer defects and light diffusor defects. The light diffusor is the white piece on the back of the panel that diffuses the light evenly across the panel. You can tell when this is damaged because the screen will have slightly brighter spots on it on a solid background. Polarizer defects are scratches on the surface.

This LCD was made for Mac, and for PC. The version of the B154PW04 made for a PC was made much more plentiful than the Mac version. The only difference between these two LCDs are the EDID code in the screen, and the backlight connections. We reprogram the LCD & modify the backlight connection so that we can reuse a brand new, never used, Grade A+ B154PW04 with your laptop, instead of using a refurbished original and hoping you won't notice the defects.

Unlike the many imitator services that buy these parts off eBay from  the middlemen, we buy direct from the manufacturer. If you're thinking of going with someone else, there's a good chance they're buying the part from us right after you checkout with them! We buy grade A+ LCDs in quantites of 200-1000 from Chi Mei & LG. The reason for our fast turnaround and low price is that we are the parts source.

Every device has something about it that makes it tricky to work on.

• We don't bend or break any of the very delicate thin aluminum LCD frame. If it is already broken, we can offer you the option to replace it.
• We do not use a CLAA154WP05 or compatible LCD to the original that tints blue and has issues with brightness control in OSX. 

Why is this price so low?

Most other repair centers buy the LCDs off eBay or other middlemen 5-10 at a time, because for them, this is a side business. Or, they are a general service company that performs many different repairs, so stocking 1000 LCDs for one machine makes no sense.

Our bread & butter, 12 hours a day, is providing screen replacement service & acquisitions of rare & discontinued LCD screens from the manufacturer. Our supplier, buys the parts we use from Toshiba, AUO, LG, Samsung, Chi Mei, Chung Hwa, and receives excellent quantity discounts for purchases of 50-100 cartons worth.

What kind of warranty does this come with?

If the LCD itself malfunctions within 1 year, you'll get a new one installed for free.
