These tools can stabilize drives, repair firmware issues, read degraded sectors, and create forensic images that consumer software cannot touch. Our No Data, No Charge policy means you only pay if we succeed.

All hard drive work requiring clean conditions is performed on a ULPA-filtered laminar-flow clean bench, validated to 0.02 µm particle count. We validate airflow and particle count.     Stabilize Access

    We stabilize the drive enough to begin imaging without causing further damage.

    • Head unsticking for beeping drives (clean-bench procedure)

    Clean-Bench Work (if needed)

    For mechanical failures, we open the drive in a particle-filtered environment.

    What we do:

    • Head swap for clicking or degraded heads
    • Stuck head removal for beeping drives
    • Platter swap for spindle motor failures
    • Donor parts selection and testing
    • Laminar flow ULPA-filtered clean bench work
    • Post-swap initialization and test read

    Sector-by-Sector Imaging

    We copy all readable data to a healthy drive before attempting file extraction.

Recovery Types & Methods

Different failures require different approaches. Here's how we handle common scenarios.

Logical Recovery

File deletion, corruption, formatting

Drive is mechanically healthy but files are deleted or filesystem is corrupted. We image the drive, then repair filesystem metadata to extract files. For deleted files in unallocated space where filesystem records no longer exist, we fall back to file carving.

Firmware Recovery

Drive not detected, initialization failure

Drive powers on but doesn't show up in BIOS or Disk Management. We use PC-3000 to repair ROM, adaptives, translator, and firmware modules until the drive initializes.

Cost: $600–$900

Mechanical Recovery

Clicking, beeping, head failures

Clicking or beeping indicates physical head or motor failure. We perform clean-bench head swaps or stuck head removal, then image immediately before donor heads degrade.

Cost: $1,200–$1,500

SSD / Flash Recovery

Controller failure, chip damage

SSD and flash recovery requires different tools. We repair controller firmware, or on unencrypted drives where the controller is dead, we remove NAND chips and read them directly with specialized hardware. This does not apply to Apple T2/M-series devices, where the encryption keys are bound to the Secure Enclave.

RAID / NAS Recovery

Multiple drive failures, controller failure

We image each member drive individually, then virtually reconstruct the RAID array on our workstation. Failed drives are recovered using standard methods first.

Mobile Device Recovery

iPhone, iPad, Android data recovery

iPhone and mobile recovery requires board-level repair to restore power so the Secure Enclave can decrypt data in place. Chip-off NAND reading does not work on iPhones or iPads; the AES-256 keys never leave the SoC.

Why is image-first recovery important?
A failing drive only has a limited number of reads left before it dies completely. An image-first approach means we copy all readable sectors to a healthy drive before attempting any repairs. This gives us multiple chances to extract your files without risking further damage to the original drive.
How long does the data recovery process take?
Simple logical recovery: 3-5 business days. Firmware issues: 5-10 business days. Head swaps and mechanical failures: 1-3 weeks depending on donor parts availability. RAID and NAS recovery: 1-3 weeks depending on complexity. We provide time estimates with your quote.
Can I watch the recovery process?
For local Austin customers, yes. We perform all work in-house and you're welcome to observe the diagnostic process. The actual imaging can take hours or days, so we'll update you on progress rather than having you wait. For mail-in customers, we provide progress updates via email and phone.
What if the imaging process fails?
If we cannot create a stable image after attempting firmware repairs, clean-bench work, and other stabilization methods, we follow our No Data, No Charge policy. You pay nothing for the attempt, only return shipping if you want the drive back.
Why use PC-3000 instead of data recovery software?
PC-3000 is a hardware tool that communicates directly with the drive's firmware and hardware, bypassing the operating system. It can stabilize drives that won't even show up in Windows or macOS, repair firmware, read degraded sectors, and image drives with precise sector mapping. Consumer software requires the drive to be fully functional, which most failed drives are not.
When is clean-bench work required?
Clean-bench work is required for any procedure that opens the hard drive enclosure: head swaps, platter swaps, stuck head removal, and spindle motor repairs. Opening a drive in normal air allows dust particles to contaminate the platters and cause immediate head crashes. Our ULPA-filtered laminar-flow clean bench is validated to zero particle count at 0.02 µm.
How do you source donor parts for head swaps?
We maintain an inventory of common donor drives and have supplier relationships for harder-to-find models. Donor heads must be an exact match: same model, same revision, often same firmware version. We source, test, and use donor parts as part of the quoted recovery cost.
How is RAID recovery different from single-drive recovery?
RAID recovery involves imaging each member drive individually, then reconstructing the array configuration virtually. We identify the RAID level, stripe size, disk order, and parity algorithm, then rebuild the array on our recovery workstation. If member drives have failed, we recover those first using standard drive recovery methods.
