“My story isn't much different than anyone else on here leaving a Rossmann review, but I feel compelled to write all this anyway. After importing 14GB of RAW photos from my brand new camera to my 13" MBP (A2338), I started to excitedly sift through my gorgeous sunset photos in Lightroom. After 5 minutes of editing, my MacBook died. Wouldn't turn on, wouldn't charge, wouldn't make any sound. It's always been well taken care of and I was dumbfounded as to why this happened. Absolutely clueless as to what to do next, I took it to the "Genius Bar". After a 5 minute diagnosis, I was told the logic board was bad -$599 to replace it, no data recovery. They quickly referred me to Drive Savers who I learned would want anywhere between $1000-3000 to potentially resolve my issues and recover my data. I did a few days worth of digging around the internet for cheaper solutions and settled on a local specialty Mac shop here in NY. I brought my MacBook in to their shop and they told me if they weren't able to resolve the issue, they'd send it off to Rossmann. Well, they airmailed my paperweight down to Austin and within a week, I was pleasantly surprised to see my MacBook active in Austin via the Find My app! For $450, the team at Rossmann had the issue fixed and I am now typing from said machine. I couldn't be happier with the whole experience. Even though I didn't deal with Rossmann Group directly, they made the magic happen. Thank you!”
MacBook Repair Service Austin
Component-level logic board repair, data recovery from soldered SSDs, liquid damage recovery, screens, keyboards, trackpads, and batteries. We replace the failed chip on your logic board instead of swapping the entire board. Austin, TX lab with nationwide mail-in.
If it's not worth fixing, we'll tell you. If Apple is the better deal for your specific repair, we'll tell you that too.

Where We Add Value Over Apple
Apple replaces entire assemblies. If a single capacitor fails on your logic board, Apple swaps the whole board; on Apple Silicon machines, that board contains the CPU, GPU, RAM, and SSD. Their quote for that swap ranges from $599 to over $1,200 depending on the original configuration. We find the failed component and replace it for $200-$600.
Apple does not always offer data recovery on T2 or Apple Silicon MacBooks with soldered storage. If your machine won't boot and you need your files, Apple may tell you they cannot help. We recover that data.
We do not add value on every repair. For battery replacement and some screen replacements, Apple's pricing is competitive with ours. We will tell you when that is the case.
Component-Level Board Repair
We replace the failed chip, not the whole board. A $200-$600 repair vs. Apple's $599-$1,200+ board swap.
No Fix, No Fee
If we cannot repair it, you pay nothing. Mail-in: return shipping only.
Data Recovery
T2 and Apple Silicon Macs with soldered SSDs. Apple does not offer this service.
Nationwide Mail-In
Ship from anywhere in the US. All repairs handled in our Austin lab.
Liquid Damage Repair
Ultrasonic cleaning and component replacement. $250-$600 vs. Apple's $749-$1,500+.

MacBook Repairs We Handle
Logic Board, Data Recovery, and Electrical
MacBook not turning on
Power circuit failures, bad capacitors, failed power ICs. We diagnose with schematics and replace the specific failed component.
Liquid damage repair →
Ultrasonic cleaning, corrosion removal, component replacement. Power off the machine and bring it in as soon as possible; every power-on attempt after liquid exposure causes additional corrosion.
No backlight / dim screen
Backlight circuit repair. Often a failed fuse, filter, or driver IC. We fix the circuit on the logic board rather than replacing the display.
Data recovery from soldered SSDs →
T2 and Apple Silicon MacBooks have storage soldered to the logic board. Apple does not recover data from these machines. We do.
Not charging
USB-C port issues, charging IC failures, battery connector problems. We trace the circuit and fix what failed.
Physical Component Repairs
Screen replacement
Cracked LCD or damaged display assembly replacement. See our note on screen parts availability below for important context on current pricing and parts sourcing.
Keyboard replacement
Butterfly keyboard issues, sticky keys, non-responsive keys. Full top case replacement for 2016-2019 models. Apple's free butterfly keyboard program ended November 2024.
Battery replacement
Swollen batteries, poor battery life, "Service Battery" warnings. Note: Apple's battery replacement pricing starts at $159 for MacBook Air and $249 for MacBook Pro. Our pricing is similar; we will tell you if Apple is the better option for your model.
Trackpad repair
Click not working, erratic cursor, physical damage. Often caused by a swollen battery pushing against the trackpad from underneath.
Liquid damage? Do not put your MacBook in rice. Do not keep trying to turn it on. Power it off and bring it to us. Every power-on attempt after liquid exposure causes more corrosion and component damage.
A Note on Screen Parts and Honest Pricing
This business started in 2009 doing MacBook screen replacements. We bought new, Grade A LCD panels from LG and Samsung brokers, replaced only the broken LCD cell, and reused the rest of the display assembly. That kept part costs low and meant we could offer screen repairs at a fraction of Apple's price. The customer got a new panel, not a used one. We took pride in that.
That supply chain no longer exists. Apple has closed off LCD panel sales to independent repair shops. The standalone LCD panels still available for modern MacBooks are factory rejects with visible defects; dead pixels, discoloration, backlight bleed that we would not put into a customer's machine. We tried. The quality is not acceptable.
For current-generation MacBooks, the only quality option is a used display assembly pulled from another machine. These assemblies include parts you don't need (back cover, hinges, webcam, antenna cables), which raises the cost. The display will be used, not new.
The result: for screen replacement on modern MacBooks, our pricing is similar to Apple's. Apple charges $399-$799 depending on model. We charge $300-$700. In many cases, Apple is the better option for a screen repair, and we will tell you that rather than take your money.
Where we still add clear value is logic board repair, liquid damage recovery, and data recovery. These are repairs where component-level skill makes the difference between a $300 fix and a $1,200 board replacement, or between recovering your data and being told by Apple that it cannot be done.

What MacBook Repair Customers Say
“I used their mail-in service and followed their simple instructions on how to send it it. First fill out a form, then you get a ticket number and write it down and put it in the box you ship the device in. Few days later from delivery I got an email indicating diagnosis was beginning. 2 days later I got a full quote and was fairly priced, and was accurate on what their website had stated it possibly could total up to be. 2 days later, it's completed and shipped out Rather spending 600+ for a new board from Apple, with no possibility of data recovery, I got to keep the same board, retain my data, and was done cheaper in the same amount of time it would have taken to do their mail in service which is what the Apple store would have done. Amazing how I went from a MacBook that was completely dead, no signs of power going through tthe board, to a smooth running as good as new Mac. Highly recommend their services and his YouTube channel.”
“I just got my Macbook Pro back from RRG. I have to say I was overjoyed and honestly getting my Macbook Pro back was the one time I felt pure joy in a while. I caught Louis on the phone a couple of the times that I called and he is super nice, incredibly nice to customers. I called in to tell him I wanted rush service and he noted that I approved $45 rush service. I called the beginning of the next week to see what the status was because it had been delivered on Thursday. Louis said they were in the middle of replacing the battery now, and then within the hour I got an email saying it was done. They did not charge me the rush service charge, which I didn't realize until after I paid and it shipped, but the was a duplicated repair charge on the invoice that I called and noted to them, which they promptly fixed. This leads me to believe that they waived the rush charge. These guys are awesome and made a daunting experience of being without my Macbook Pro for a week super easy. In contrast-- Geek Squad (Best Buy) said they needed to send it off to Apple for a month, and Microcenter, while I'm very impressed that they were able to do it in store, wanted $500 for the repair, which $300 of that was Apple's charge for the battery, that they're forced to use because they are an AASP. My understanding is they replace the whole backing and not just the battery. But here's the thing-- regardless of both places and even though all my data is backed up on the cloud, I simply did not trust to leave my Macbook Pro with either Microcenter (because they are an AASP only, because they're an awesome store with very capable people) or *shudder* Best Buy. Thank you so much Louis for being awesome, and all the rest of the guys. I don't know who the other guys were I spoke with but everyone was incredibly kind.”
“True story: I found the shop through Louis's youtube. Love his content. So I didn't even think twice about trusting the repair I needed for my macbook 13" 2017. One of my usb-c ports died, and my battery was bad. Here's where things get interesting. I got an update saying my facetime camera failed during QA testing after the repair. This was odd to me because I used it a couple of hours before coming to the shop on a video conference. Needless to say, when I heard back from them after a week I was pretty upset and frustrated because it "sounded" like I would end up paying for a complete screen replacement. However, this is where you know you are working with professionals. After some dialogue, they did address that they wanted to come to a mutual beneficial compromise. I offered the suggestion that they reimburse me for a webcam I ended up buying after the call (I was without my macbook for two weeks, and I'm a software engineer who NEEDS it for a living, the time table was reasonable considering the holiday and the unexpected issues that came up). Camera was $50. They agreed after showing them proof. But Kevin talked to the manger, and they reimbursed me $100 for all the trouble. STUFF LIKE THIS IS WHAT MAKES A BAD SITUATION INTO A VERY ACCEPTABLE SITUATION!!! Just the fact that doubled my ask, I appreciated it. I don't blame them for the camera failure. I don't think they did anything to make it fail. Things happen. But they did take responsibility for the situation. Which I am grateful for. Anyways, what started off as a souring feeling turned into a pleasant compromise. Also because they are WAYYY cheaper than going through apple for the same exact repair. I honestly can't recommend any other place for your repair needs. Thank you to all the hard working people at the shop. Thanks to Kevin and his manager.”

"Shipped my liquid-damaged MacBook from Seattle to Austin after watching Louis Rossmann's technical repair videos for years. Professional mail-in data recovery service - they kept me updated throughout the process... and successfully recovered all my data. Cost me 1/4 of what Apple quoted for board replacement."
