Seagate Ironwolf Helium Hard Drive Data Recovery

Helium drives like some of Seagate's Ironwolf drives are difficult to work with. Drives with helium seals necessitate experience & advanced tools. Our technicians use the latest AceLAB PC3000 setups & years of specialized experience to get data back from your helium hard drive. Our expertise greatly increases the chance of a successful recovery compared to technicians unfamiliar with helium drives

Seagate Ironwolf Recovery

Common Causes of Data Loss in Seagate Exos Drives

  • Mechanical Failures: Issues like head crashes, spindle motor failures, or platter damage can lead to data loss. Drives that have been dropped can have the issue where the heads re-park & seek back and forth which can indicate internal damage.
  • Firmware Corruption: Malfunctions in drive firmware can make data access impossible without special tools.
  • Environmental Factors: Heat, moisture, and physical shocks can damage these drives, with helium-filled models being very sensitive to punctures or seal breaches.

Helium Drive Challenge

One common issue is the higher weight of the platter stack, which can stress the servo motor & cause wobbling platters. This can cause damage to the platters, motor, & read/write heads if not handled correctly.

Advantages of our AceLAB PC3000 Setup

  • Advanced Diagnostics and Repair: The AceLAB PC3000 represents the height of data recovery tools, offering amazing diagnostics & repair capabilities. Our fully updated setup allows us to accurately diagnose issues that might be overlooked by less advanced tools or older versions. This precision is important to figure out the proper recovery path, which minimizes the risk of data loss.
  • Firmware Access & Repair: The PC3000 provides us with great access to the drive's firmware, which allows our technicians to do complex repairs that are beyond the reach of standard recovery tools & basic software. This is required for recovering data from drives with corrupted firmware, a common issue in helium-filled models.
  • Comprehensive Data Extraction: Our PC3000 setup allows for close to full data extraction, even from severely damaged drives. This lets us provide full  data in challenging cases

5 star ratingI had an iPhone 8 that was totally dead, wouldn't recognize being plugged into a computer or power outlet. The biggest problem was that it hadn't been backed up in a long time and there 5000+ photos and videos of our kids were potentially lost.I sent it in to RRG and got a call from Kevin (who was the tech who was actually going to be handling my repair). He was great, forthcoming with the plan, and very polite.Bottom line? Got my phone back with all the data still intact (apps, contacts, photos, videos, settings) working 100%, AND got a flash drive with the photos and videos on it.Thanks guys!

Five weeks ago, my 10 year old daughter's 5th gen iPad stopped charging. My husband and I suspected a loose connection, but when we took it to Apple, they ran some test and concluded the logic board died. Since the iPad was set up under me when she got it (at the age of 6), I had disconnected her from *my* iCloud. Apple basically couldn't sell me a new iPad because we had no data backup. Based on Apple's recommendation, we sent it to their data recovery partner, DriveSavers, who quoted me $2800 for data recovery due to "widespread corruption" on her logic board. We declined. Enter the Rossmann Repair Group. Earlier this week, I got a call asking me what specifically was wrong with the iPad because they were able to turn it on, and had access to all the data. To say I was floored is a complete understatement - but 100% explains why the Find Me app showed my daughter's iPad location as CA, when it had a "corrupted" logic board… *eye roll* Rossmann Repair Group gave me a copy of my daughter's data for $100, on a storage device I did not have to pay for, AND fixed her home button and cracked screen for another $100. They shipped it back to me for free. $200 and it was done. I would tipped if there was a virtual tip jar... so happy!! ;) I feel completely misled by Apple, and we were flat out lied to by DriveSavers. But Rossmann Repair Group was honest, kind, and reasonable. I feel like they completely came to our rescue. I wish you could have seen the smile on my daughter's face when she got her iPad back. My heart swelled. To David, the tech who fixed it, thank you so much. Because of you, we are Rossmann Repair Group customers for life.

I sent my MacBook Pro in for an SSD replacement. Work was done in 2 business days and shipping was very fast. As a technician myself I only trust board level repair or new Mac repair to Rossman and his team. Used to watch his YouTube videos many years ago. Great to see progress!

5 star ratingThese guys deserve TEN stars. My mother's Mac Air died on a vacation to NYC. Well, we thought it died. Her bag was lost at JFK and the charger was packed (dumb, yes, but there was a major snowstorm and she slept not at all waiting to find out whether or not her flight was canceled). She had important files not backed up. Yes, dumb. But she's 78 and a lawyer 52 years. A lawyer with secretaries who used to do all that stuff. And she is not computer-savvy beyond the bare minimum needed to email and compose documents. She bought a charger at UES Apple (the one on Madison in the 70s). The computer would not charge above 1%. My friend in IT recommended this place. He says it is the ONLY place other than Apple he will allow to touch his many devices, as an Apple consumer since the 1980s. I called Rossman at noon, from the March For Our Lives, and they said they would take a look at it. But before that, I emailed. Sure enough, there was an email back to my mother (she didn't see it). I told them my friend thought the port was corroded and that might be why it would not (the light) turn green or orange. So I trek back to the UES from the UWS to retrieve the computer. Trains a mess. Two hours later I arrived at Rossman and found three others waiting in the tiny store. It's not that small but typical for the area, narrow storefront and a deep space with workspace in the rear. The man took the computer and then charged with his own charger. Voila! All that stress and it turns out the computer is FINE but that Apple sold us a defective charger. Mom never tested it in the store, having no reason to believe Apple would sell a lemon. (Yuk yuk.) The man (whose name I wish I had asked for as we hung out over an hour) transferred her hard drive onto a little metal thing for 40 bucks. Also, Mom's machine is in very good shape, though she needs a new battery at some point. He does not recommend that she buys a new Air, which she was prepared to do. Otherwise, her device is healthy. Quite remarkable for a 2012 that gets heavy usage. Even at work, she uses her Air not a desktop at the firm. We then talked a lot about old vs new Airs and MacBook Pros. My Pro is from 2015, November. He says NEVER to get rid of this device, just to fix it when it gets old, and that the new MacBook Pros suck. He even expects a class action suit to arise as a result of the hybrid of solid state and movable parts. The new Airs are also not great. If they die and you haven't backed anything up, you are screwed. There is NO WAY to retrieve files without making the machine functional. That's because there is no removable hard drive. He's not impressed with the new products and says the best Pro eve made is the one I own (a gift from a dear friend who knew my 2011 MacBook Pro was on last legs). I am a customer for life and when my 2015 Pro begins to age, I'm taking it here. They also sell refurbished Mac Air/Pro and I would trust anything they had fixed and deemed fit to sell. Everyone is so nice. A lot of people came in and the Saturday hours were 12 to 4. A frazzled young woman came in at 4:10 pm and asked if they were closed. "Yes and no," my repairman told her. I love this place and encourage all Apple people to patronize them. The juice place down the street is quite good (a few doors down) and the prices lower than Juice Press and the like (except for the Acai bowls). But they don't have real milk. Just that soy/almond garbage. It's not far from Veselka and the Immigrant Bar. And St. Marks. THANK YOU, ROSSMAN!

Great experience. These guys know what they are doing and are so honest, it is almost scary. I sent them a hard drive for data recovery and was informed that a recovery might be possible, but was highly unlikely. I watched one of their videos on YouTube and it made perfect sense why. Everyone else wanted to charge me $1300, whether or not they could recover the data. Louis, thank you for what you do, what you represent, and who you are.

5 star ratingI have a 2017 macbook pro. For those who aren't aware this model had a ton of design flaws.A few months ago Apple replaced my keyboard and battery for free which was great. Then it started crashing unexpectedly.Apple wanted $500 (before tax) to repair the issue.Rossmann quoted me $350 (total), so i went with them. When I came to pick up my laptop the guy at the front handed my computer back, told me there was some debris in one of my usb-c slots, and that the problem was fixed. He also told me they had fixed it FOR FREE, since they didn't need to do any real repairs/labor. That was amazing and I really appreciate the honesty because I'm sure Apple would have charged me $500 for the same fix.And yes my computer seems to be working fine.I only have one constructive criticism: which is the time it took to get my computer back. I brought it in on a Friday night, seeing that they were open on the weekend, i figured I could have my computer back by Monday or Tuesday. The guy at the front informed me that they don't do repairs on weekends, so I'd have it back Wednesday, absolutely latest Thursday.Well, half way through Thursday I hadn't heard back, so i left a comment on the ticket asking for an update - to which they replied they'd have it ready Friday or the following Monday. I had a feeling this meant Monday and that turned out to be the case. Thankfully I didn't absolutely need my Mac those few extra days past the original Wed/Thurs estimate they gave...but I definitely wasn't thrilled about that.So my recommendation for your database/ticketing system: please add a date that specifies the estimated completion date communicated to the customer at drop off. This way your company can be proactive and reach out to customers if repairs will take longer than expected...and ensure everyone is on the same page about the most updated time to complete. But again, thank you for the repair/service, and I look forward to more great videos from Louis on YT :)

5 star ratingI wasn't able to retrieve files off an external hard drive and the first estimate was $350 to $2500 (they said it had to go back to the manufacturer). Rossman was referred baby a friend and I was able to retrieve all my information. It was pricey (not $2,500!!) but worth it. I was very happy with the service.

5 star ratingI walked in with my dead Macbook Pro Tuesday (randomly wouldn't turn on or charge) and Louis and his team were so helpful! At first they opened it up and said that the logic board needed to be replaced but were willing to see if the current one could be salvaged first. I left and came back and in an hour my Macbook was good as new!!!! Apple told me it would be better to just buy a whole new Macbook, so glad I came here first! Highly recommend for all your Apple repair needs.

5 star ratingI stumbled on my daughter's 2012 MacBook Pro that she had been told (years ago) was beyond repair. I powered it up and a little research led me to guess that the hard drive was dead or not being seen. So I sent a note with that assumption to Rossman Repair Group. They said it could be the hard drive or it could be the drive cable which is a known issue with this model - $100 to repair if that's what it is. I gambled and paid $13 to ship it. For retail customers, Rossman will diagnose, outline the problem, and provide an estimate for free. They confirmed it was the cable and they needed the OS password to further test the operating system to make sure that it boots (loads to your desktop). I did not have the password so I asked if they could use the password reset? They replied "We wouldn't be able to reset the password, but we can wipe it and reinstall a new OS with a new password if you'd like. The hard drive cable is indeed bad on this device, with a new cable the hard drive does show up."I got it back (free return shipping), since the hard drive now shows up I was able to reset the PW and it looks to be running perfectly! Total repair cost $113.
