Rossmann Repair Group carries out both basic HDD data recoveries and more complex ones. Here are some of the basic problems we can fix which do not cost as much as the complex ones:
Bad sectors: If your drive only has some bad sectors but no heads damaged, you could be looking at a $100-$250 recovery.
Not showing up: Drives that do not show up often have firmware issues, $250-$450 to repair. Some also require the USB to be converted to SATA when the USB section fails, for drives that are natively USB – meaning, they do not use an internal SATA/USB conversion process.
Copying data off slow: This could be due to bad sectors, bad heads, or bad firmware – this could be anywhere from a $150 recovery to $900 if the data required is inaccessible due to a failing head.
Bad partition table: If the bad partition table occurred due to software issues(turned off machine improperly), this is anywhere from a $100-$300 fix depending on whether we are able to fix the original partition table, and whether your case is a simple or complex one. If the partition table was damaged due to failure of the heads/bad firmware, it can go into the $400-$900 range.
Stuck heads/clicking/beeping: If heads are stuck, you could be looking at the $300-$400 end if they can be unstuck, if no prior work/smacking the drive has previously been done to unstick heads. If new heads are needed, then you go up to the $700-$900 range.
Platter issues: Platter issues, stuck platters, or platter damage starts at $900 and goes up from there.
