If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Long story short my wife's macbook pro wouldn't see hard drive. Upon startup all we saw was a blinking file with a question mark. Called apple and made appointment with "genius" bar. They said that hard drive was dead and to take it to a micro center or similar store to try and get my wife's pics and videos (which she NEVER backed up) off of the dead drive. My wife was in tears now because it wasn't even a definite that she could recover them. Pricing for this according to numerous data recovery shops was 500-1500 and like I said it wasn't definite they could get the data. Well went on yelp and saw Rossman repair group which was a 40 minute drive and had 4.5 stars on yelp. Their pricing was tiered according to what had to be done to get the data and started at around 200 bucks so I figured I'd take a ride into the city with the wifey and hope for the best. Upon walking into this little shop a nice young lady asked to see the computer. She started started it up, saw the blinking file and handed it to a gentleman sitting at a work desk right next to her. The guy says might be a cable issue they're known to go bad in these computers. He then opened the computer, hooked up his hard drive and it still didn't work. Cable is bad and NOT HARD DRIVE!!!! Give us about 20 minutes we have these in stock and it will cost 100 bucks plus tax!!!!! OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH !!! went for a nice little dinner right on next block at this great little pizzeria/restaurant while we waited. Got the wifey a nice glass of wine and picked computer up 45 minutes later. THESE GUYS ARE THE BEST !!!!read more

I took my iPhone 6 Plus with a motherboard completely damaged took it to other technicians that were specialist in motherboards and no one could’ve get my data recovered or fix my phone to power back on these people of (Rossmann Repair Group) got the phone fully repaired and in perfect working order and also backed up all my data in to a new hard drive . I had all of our pictures backed up twice, except for 2017 and 2018. As I was uploading originals to the cloud, my drive died. And there went 2 years, four daughters' middle school and high school memories, and my heart was broken. Two separate repair shops looked at our drive....one of which likely also damaged it further....to no avail. Rossman was recommended by our local guy after he said it was not something he could do. Steve came through. It took time, and patience, and I fully expected for him to give up, but he didn't. He finally fixed it, did it at a price that was way too reasonable, and I now have our memories back. I would unequivocally recommend Rossman. I stumbled on my daughter's 2012 MacBook Pro that she had been told (years ago) was beyond repair. I powered it up and a little research led me to guess that the hard drive was dead or not being seen. So I sent a note with that assumption to Rossman Repair Group. They said it could be the hard drive or it could be the drive cable which is a known issue with this model - $100 to repair if that's what it is. I gambled and paid $13 to ship it. For retail customers, Rossman will diagnose, outline the problem, and provide an estimate for free. They confirmed it was the cable and they needed the OS password to further test the operating system to make sure that it boots (loads to your desktop). I did not have the password so I asked if they could use the password reset? They replied "We wouldn't be able to reset the password, but we can wipe it and reinstall a new OS with a new password if you'd like. The hard drive cable is indeed bad on this device, with a new cable the hard drive does show up." I got it back (free return shipping), since the hard drive now shows up I was able to reset the PW and it looks to be running perfectly! Total repair cost $113.

I have a 2017 macbook pro. For those who aren't aware this model had a ton of design flaws.A few months ago Apple replaced my keyboard and battery for free which was great. Then it started crashing unexpectedly.Apple wanted $500 (before tax) to repair the issue.Rossmann quoted me $350 (total), so i went with them.When I came to pick up my laptop the guy at the front handed my computer back, told me there was some debris in one of my usb-c slots, and that the problem was fixed. He also told me they had fixed it FOR FREE, since they didn't need to do any real repairs/labor. That was amazing and I really appreciate the honesty because I'm sure Apple would have charged me $500 for the same fix.And yes my computer seems to be working fine.I only have one constructive criticism: which is the time it took to get my computer back. I brought it in on a Friday night, seeing that they were open on the weekend, i figured I could have my computer back by Monday or Tuesday. The guy at the front informed me that they don't do repairs on weekends, so I'd have it back Wednesday, absolutely latest Thursday.Well, half way through Thursday I hadn't heard back, so i left a comment on the ticket asking for an update - to which they replied they'd have it ready Friday or the following Monday. I had a feeling this meant Monday and that turned out to be the case. Thankfully I didn't absolutely need my Mac those few extra days past the original Wed/Thurs estimate they gave...but I definitely wasn't thrilled about that.So my recommendation for your database/ticketing system: please add a date that specifies the estimated completion date communicated to the customer at drop off. This way your company can be proactive and reach out to customers if repairs will take longer than expected...and ensure everyone is on the same page about the most updated time to complete.But again, thank you for the repair/service, and I look forward to more great videos from Louis on YT :)read more

Trust the reviews. This place has great customer service, honest pricing and amazing turnaround time. Water spilled on my laptop unbeknownst to me and sat for days. It wouldn't turn on nor charge. I opened it up to find water w/ rust and corrosion and immediately made a Genius Bar appointment then scoured the internet for other solutions since I hadn't backed up my stuff, ever, and didn't want to lose anything. Found the YouTube page much like many others and got an email quote. The next day I took the hour and a half drive because the reviews seemed consistent and I didn't want to hear the bad news I knew I'd get from Apple. Got a brief diagnosis when I got there and later on that night they called and told me it would be an easy fix. Went over pricing with me every step of the way. I had to get a new keyboard, battery and something else I'm not remembering. Total repair cost w/ tax: $598. Dropped off Friday 12/04 for repairs. Picked up Monday 12/07 fixed. Highly recommend for water damage issues.

I would give this place and service 10 stars if I could. I spilled the smallest amount of water on my 2015 Macbook Air space bar (the size of a quarter). It was in perfect condition before that. The computer bugged out and shut down. I went to the Apple Genius Bar to get it looked at and hopefully fixed. Though friendly, they did nothing to actually help and just told me that I didn't get water on the hard drive, but since it wasn't turning on, I needed to buy a new laptop - never again will I go there. A friend I was complaining to suggested Rossman Group, which I wasn't far from so I thought it was worth a trip - and it certainly was! I regret not getting the service guy's name, but he assessed the issue and told me I only needed to replace the track pad cable ($75 + tax), while teaching me some things about hardware along the way (i.e. rice does nothing for liquid damage, Macbook Air's after 2017 are garbage, the screw driver to open your computer safely is a WHIA Pentable 4, etc). I've never been so thrilled to spend $75 before - vs. the $1,100 Apple tried to get me out of me for a new machine. My computer was saved and works perfectly as it should. Could not be more grateful - a miracle on First Avenue!

AMAZING. I talked to a few other places before coming here. The final price I paid here was half of what I was quoted at the other place, insanely FAST (a few days vs. 6-8 days) AND SO MUCH MORE CLEAR in their diagnosis and process! The Rossmann Group is the best. First, I went to Dr. Brendan's on St.Marks. My computer sat there for a while- even though they mention a 24hr diagnosis period and I called them to ask about what happened. Super poor communication at Dr.Brendan from my experience. Also their quote was around $800 and timing was 6-8 days. This all felt super wrong, and I decided I might should take the laptop somewhere else. My work depends on it! SO I had read all the awesome reviews on google and saw how involved the people at The Rossmann Group were in helping their customers. Went over there on a Sunday. As soon as I showed up the technician opened my computer and told me exactly what was wrong, immediately diagnosed and understood. No smoke and mirrors, no questions unanswered. So amazing! Even though it was a holiday weekend (ie: NYE) the problem was solved by Tuesday night and I picked up my computer Wednesday! Highly recommend this shop! It seriously has taken a huge burden off my back as I launch my new biz in 2019. Computer problem was.... Display went out on my mac book pro after I dropped coffee near it. Other place said I would need a LCD screen replacement and a new logic board. But Rossmann Group opened the computer and showed me that part of the cable that connects the logic board and screen was burned out. So they replaced that for around 460$. Computer works great now!

My Mac Book Air was damaged by a water spill. I turned it on briefly, then it shut down and it would not boot up again. Knowing how damaging a liquid spill can be on a Mac Book, I reluctantly took it to the Apple Store to assess the damage. I was told at the Apple store that it would cost me at least $750.00 to have the hard drive replaced and that would be my only option. I was also encouraged to purchase a new one rather than putting that much money into it. I did not want to spend that kind of money so I went home feeling like all was lost. A local business near my home in West Chester Ohio highly recommended the Rossmann Repair Group in New York City. Reluctantly, I packed it up and sent it to this company after researching it online. I also called and talked to the owner describing the problem. He was very professional and personable. Within two weeks, I received a reply back from the owner through their website letting me know they had completed their assessment. I called again and spoke to the owner because there was no charge on the invoice. The owner said to me, "All we needed to do was an ultra-sonic cleaning, we cleaned a bit of gunk out of it and we don't feel like we should charge you anything". I was absolutely amazed at the integrity of this man and this company. He could have charged me hundreds of dollars for a repair, I would never have known. I HIGHLY recommend this company. It is rare that you find that level of honesty and integrity in a company. My laptop was cleaned and is now working like it were brand new. (see the photo below) All I paid this company was for shipping to return it back to me. Again, I would highly recommend this company. The Apple store will no longer be my first stop for issues concerning any of my Apple products. This guy and his company are the real deal.read more
