I was a big fan of Rossmann. I have been watching him on YouTube for years. Naturally, when I was having a hardware problem with my Framework Laptop, I was so excited to be able to use the business owned by one of my heroes. I emailed them in advance since I know they focus on Apple Product repair. They emailed me warning it may take several weeks. I thought to myself. I can wait as long as it takes, I just want my issue resolved so I shipped it out. The issue was after a spill on the charge port the machine would periodically stop charging and need the power cable re-seated. I shipped it out and waited. I even pre-approved like 300 dollars for repairs. I was ready to pay the price for quality work. Finally, they call me to tell me they cannot fix it. They said they observed the issue but saw no signs of water damage and found no shorts on the board and said all they could do was a data backup. I said why would I pay for a data backup of a working drive? They said good point. I pleaded please maybe if you look at it for longer or have another tech check it out you can figure it out. They refused and shipped it back (at cost to me but I knew that going in). I basically gave up. I figured if the legendary Rossmann can't fix it then nobody can. One day a week later I walked past a repair shop in NYC called iFixit. I walked in and told them my story and they seemed super confident they could fix it and would not charge to take a look. Less than a week later they called and said it was fixed 95 bucks please. I was excited and skeptical. I picked it up and paid. I asked what they had done and all they did was clean the motherboard (like ultrasonic cleaning I think). I was worried. There was no way this would be all that was needed, because no way Rossmann's people missed such an easy fix. Well It's been weeks and I can confirm this was all that was needed. My Framework is now fully functional. I am thrilled but so disappointed. Rossmann Repair Group has been the biggest disappointment for me of the entire year of 2023. I seriously hope that my experience was the exception to the rule and that everyone else is having a better experience. My experience was what I expect from Geek Squad at Best Buy. Now I worked for Geek Squad and its great to send your mum or granny to get a virus cleaned and a basic hard drive data backup, but real repairs its not the place you want to go. I thought Rossmann was... I was wrong. iFixit in NYC was the place to go. Finishing the story: I received a call from Rossmann Repair. Initially I didn't take the call. I figured it was going to be an underhanded attempt to get me to amend the review above. When I got a second call several minutes later I figured I would take the call and see what they were going to say. The gentleman that was speaking said they wanted to talk about the review I had left. They wanted to let me know what happened from their side. I was skeptical but already on the phone and to be fair nobody had been unprofessional in their communications with me so I felt it would be rude not to let the man finish. Ultimately he told me that they dropped the ball and that my review was one of the few bad reviews that was justified. He went over in great detail what had happened from their end and why they believed there was no option for repair. He really wanted to convey that they were sorry they let me down that this truly was an anomaly and I believe him. I will be changing the review from a 1 to a 2 star but will not change the contents only add this ending to the story. While I doubt I will be using Rossmann Repair again I do believe they are a capable and professional shop. Edit: I have since received correspondence from Louis Rossmann himself and I truly believe that I am an edge case and that this shop is an amazing place and I just got very unlucky. Thank you Louis. Keep up all the good work you do.

Absolutely incredible. A USB was corrupted and destroyed important legal files. They were able to recover all of it. Don’t trust anyone else!

After years of watching Louis' YouTube vids I had to contact them for a damaged USB drive. I know they work on Apple products 99% of the time. This thumb drive had important documents that could not be reproduced, so I sent it in and they quoted me three times under what My big city wanted. Not to negate the time and work that goes into working on something so small. They are absolute professionals and I will be sending more damaged items in the future. From the time sent to return was exactly 15 days. Absolute life savers.

Five weeks ago, my 10 year old daughter's 5th gen iPad stopped charging. My husband and I suspected a loose connection, but when we took it to Apple, they ran some test and concluded the logic board died. Since the iPad was set up under me when she got it (at the age of 6), I had disconnected her from *my* iCloud. Apple basically couldn't sell me a new iPad because we had no data backup. Based on Apple's recommendation, we sent it to their data recovery partner, DriveSavers, who quoted me $2800 for data recovery due to "widespread corruption" on her logic board. We declined. Enter the Rossmann Repair Group. Earlier this week, I got a call asking me what specifically was wrong with the iPad because they were able to turn it on, and had access to all the data. To say I was floored is a complete understatement - but 100% explains why the Find Me app showed my daughter's iPad location as CA, when it had a "corrupted" logic board… *eye roll* Rossmann Repair Group gave me a copy of my daughter's data for $100, on a storage device I did not have to pay for, AND fixed her home button and cracked screen for another $100. They shipped it back to me for free. $200 and it was done. I would tipped if there was a virtual tip jar... so happy!! ;) I feel completely misled by Apple, and we were flat out lied to by DriveSavers. But Rossmann Repair Group was honest, kind, and reasonable. I feel like they completely came to our rescue. I wish you could have seen the smile on my daughter's face when she got her iPad back. My heart swelled. To David, the tech who fixed it, thank you so much. Because of you, we are Rossmann Repair Group customers for life.

Simply the email "request a quote" feature was enough for me to come here and make my first ever review. They couldn't even fix my problem due to it being a severe legacy hardware failure, but were quick, upfront and honest about it, even linking me to a work around that will allow me to recover my files and transfer them to a new device or hard drive. There is really something to be said about this quality of service, I would have stuck my logic board back in the oven like an idiot (again) potentially bricking the entire thing forever. Louis, you really know how to run a no nonsense quality business. Thank you From a former Apple fanboy.

I have a 2016 15" MacBook Pro with touch bar, which crashed randomly and wouldn't restart. I tried a bunch of things over next couple of days but no dice. Figured it was dead.Took it to Apple Store (W 14th St). Their Genius took it apart in a back room and told me the logic board is dead and quoted $678 to fix it, with loss of all data.I went to Rossmann nearby to ask about data recovery (having researched various options and finding lots of recommendations for this place). The guy at the front desk took it apart in front of me and found the issue in 10 seconds. A small screw had become dislodged and was wedged between two components on the board. Worked fine after removing that.No cost (I gave the guy a tip).Amazing.Added bonus: my faith in humanity is renewed. (My faith in Apple is much reduced)Can't recommend this place enough.

They got our data out of a waterlogged phone after other labs failed.

I was stressed out studying for my exams and ended up dropping and then spilling day-old soup all over my 6-month old Macbook Pro that cost $2000. The keyboard and then screen stopped working. I sent it to a local shop and they said nothing could be done, but I saw that Rossmann had a mail-in option. I was initially skeptical but sent in my laptop as a last-ditch effort to try to recover my laptop. They responded quickly and told me about what had gone wrong in my laptop, and fixed it so it works now! Plus, the computer is not able to turn off when the lid is closed, so they counted it as unfixable and didn't even charge me for the repair. I paid $30 to rescue a $2000 computer! Thanks so much for being the most decent shop I've ever encountered. I will be returning as long as I own Macs.

Owner is knowledgeable and instills good work ethics in his employees. The repair service is kneecapped by manufacturers that don't share their components or even stop 3rd parties from selling replacement parts. But if a board component is unavailable the staff make do with recycled circuit boards (good for the ewaste problem). Unlike at big corporate stores Rossman doesn't have punishing policies like demanding to erase the customer's data even if it's not necessary, or replacing whole circuitboards when just one component needs replacing.

I sent my MacBook Pro in for an SSD replacement. Work was done in 2 business days and shipping was very fast. As a technician myself I only trust board level repair or new Mac repair to Rossman and his team. Used to watch his YouTube videos many years ago. Great to see progress!

Great customer service, and prices are very fair i had no complaints at all this guys go above and beyond the call of duty, my Samsung phone is working amazing again! Not to mention they recovered all my data before the repair started, I really love the work they do and I shipped the phone from California and the send it back to me super fast, this guys really know what their doing will send more products in the near future for repair. Great Customer service. Way better than apple (Specially in terms of charges). You can go with any Mac, iphone or data recovery related problems. They are genuinely helpful. Would recommend to anyone anytime.

I have a 8+ year old MacBook Air, it completely shut off on me and I was devastated since I have a ton of important business files that weren't backed up. I contacted Apple Tech through chat and we troubleshooted with negative results. The Tech set up an appointment with their Apple Store Genius Bar. I went over to the appointment and the individual at the Genius Bar couldn't help me and basically did everything the previous tech over chat had me do. The Genius Bar tech told me there was nothing that could really be done since its considered a "vintage" device. I could try to have it repaired by them but there is a flat rate and there will be a high chance that the data will be lost. I couldn't take that chance and loose the data. One of my friends gave me Rossmann's information. I contacted them and Kevin told me to bring it over. I was there less than 15 minutes, the tech did some minor work and got my MacBook Air to turn on! Also told me there was no charge! I couldn't believe it after coming out of the Apple Store loosing my mind due to the potential data loss! These Guys at Rossmann are truly honest individuals! My client went to a Genius bar and was told he needed a new logic board and it was going to be about 800 dollars. I sent it to Rossmann and they got it fixed for almost a quarter of the Genius Bar price and on top of that my client's data was saved as they were able to repair the board. They did a fantastic job.

I used their mail-in service and followed their simple instructions on how to send it it. First fill out a form, then you get a ticket number and write it down and put it in the box you ship the device in. Few days later from delivery I got an email indicating diagnosis was beginning. 2 days later I got a full quote and was fairly priced, and was accurate on what their website had stated it possibly could total up to be. 2 days later, it's completed and shipped out Rather spending 600+ for a new board from Apple, with no possibility of data recovery, I got to keep the same board, retain my data, and was done cheaper in the same amount of time it would have taken to do their mail in service which is what the Apple store would have done. Amazing how I went from a MacBook that was completely dead, no signs of power going through tthe board, to a smooth running as good as new Mac. Highly recommend their services and his YouTube channel.
