My MacBook Pro (A1990) bricked and would not turn back on. I had years of family photos and important documents that were not backup up. Panicking, I first tried bringing my laptop to the local UBreakIFix. After weeks of delays and false promises (including losing my laptop for a few days), UBreakIFix told me that the logic board was damaged and I would need to pay for a replacement logic board, screen, and keyboard. In addition, my data would be unrecoverable. They were also insistent that I sell them my non-functioning MacBook, and I had to argue for days to get them to return my laptop so I could seek out other options. After doing my own research into logic board repairs for my specific model, I found out about Rossmann Repair and learned that it was indeed possible to fix my MacBook and recover my data. In fact, Louis had videos of my model's specific logic board being repaired on his YouTube channel. Unfortunately, they had moved out of the NYC area and I was hesitant to mail my laptop out due to my own skepticism. So, I searched for local specialists in Connecticut and found ThinqMac. My first conversation with one of their employees immediately made me feel that I was in good hands. The technicians ran some tests on my computer and eventually determined that, while they could not fix my MacBook in house, they knew about a place that could: Rossmann Repair. ThinqMac sent my laptop to Austin for me and dealt with all the communication with Rossmann. In the end, after being told by UBreakIFix and Apple that my data was unrecoverable and my computer would never turn on again, the folks at Rossmann Repair proved them wrong. My computer has been as good as new for the last 4 months and I was able to recover all of my data. While my experience with Rossmann Repair was indirect, I cannot recommend them enough. If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would. The Apple Genius wanted twice the price and 10 weeks to fix my Macbook Pro. Rossman received it on a Thursday, repaired and shipped it back out next day. I happily paid a nominal expediting fee for a quick turn. It arrived back to me very well packaged, clean as a whistle, and working flawlessly. EXCELLENT!

Trust the reviews. This place has great customer service, honest pricing and amazing turnaround time. Water spilled on my laptop unbeknownst to me and sat for days. It wouldn't turn on nor charge. I opened it up to find water w/ rust and corrosion and immediately made a Genius Bar appointment then scoured the internet for other solutions since I hadn't backed up my stuff, ever, and didn't want to lose anything. Found the YouTube page much like many others and got an email quote. The next day I took the hour and a half drive because the reviews seemed consistent and I didn't want to hear the bad news I knew I'd get from Apple. Got a brief diagnosis when I got there and later on that night they called and told me it would be an easy fix. Went over pricing with me every step of the way. I had to get a new keyboard, battery and something else I'm not remembering. Total repair cost w/ tax: $598. Dropped off Friday 12/04 for repairs. Picked up Monday 12/07 fixed. Highly recommend for water damage issues.

This is literally the first review I've ever written, and these guys absolutely deserve it. I had a hard drive fail after it was connected to a bad power supply and fried itself. I basically lost 6+ months of work and was devastated. I sent the drive Rossmann Repair and they managed to recover all of the data I lost, and sent it to me on a new 1tb external drive. Also important to note: when I sent the drive in the company was in the process of moving to a new store location. Because it took a couple weeks extra for them to get to my drive, they waived the cost of the 1tb external my data was copied onto which was SO nice of them. I am so incredibly thankful, and would highly suggest going through Rossmann Repair if you need an affordable alternative to something like Drive Savers. Again, thanks guys. You rock.

AMAZING. I talked to a few other places before coming here. The final price I paid here was half of what I was quoted at the other place, insanely FAST (a few days vs. 6-8 days) AND SO MUCH MORE CLEAR in their diagnosis and process! The Rossmann Group is the best. First, I went to Dr. Brendan's on St.Marks. My computer sat there for a while- even though they mention a 24hr diagnosis period and I called them to ask about what happened. Super poor communication at Dr.Brendan from my experience. Also their quote was around $800 and timing was 6-8 days. This all felt super wrong, and I decided I might should take the laptop somewhere else. My work depends on it! SO I had read all the awesome reviews on google and saw how involved the people at The Rossmann Group were in helping their customers. Went over there on a Sunday. As soon as I showed up the technician opened my computer and told me exactly what was wrong, immediately diagnosed and understood. No smoke and mirrors, no questions unanswered. So amazing! Even though it was a holiday weekend (ie: NYE) the problem was solved by Tuesday night and I picked up my computer Wednesday! Highly recommend this shop! It seriously has taken a huge burden off my back as I launch my new biz in 2019. Computer problem was.... Display went out on my mac book pro after I dropped coffee near it. Other place said I would need a LCD screen replacement and a new logic board. But Rossmann Group opened the computer and showed me that part of the cable that connects the logic board and screen was burned out. So they replaced that for around 460$. Computer works great now!

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Long story short my wife's macbook pro wouldn't see hard drive. Upon startup all we saw was a blinking file with a question mark. Called apple and made appointment with "genius" bar. They said that hard drive was dead and to take it to a micro center or similar store to try and get my wife's pics and videos (which she NEVER backed up) off of the dead drive. My wife was in tears now because it wasn't even a definite that she could recover them. Pricing for this according to numerous data recovery shops was 500-1500 and like I said it wasn't definite they could get the data. Well went on yelp and saw Rossman repair group which was a 40 minute drive and had 4.5 stars on yelp. Their pricing was tiered according to what had to be done to get the data and started at around 200 bucks so I figured I'd take a ride into the city with the wifey and hope for the best. Upon walking into this little shop a nice young lady asked to see the computer. She started started it up, saw the blinking file and handed it to a gentleman sitting at a work desk right next to her. The guy says might be a cable issue they're known to go bad in these computers. He then opened the computer, hooked up his hard drive and it still didn't work. Cable is bad and NOT HARD DRIVE!!!! Give us about 20 minutes we have these in stock and it will cost 100 bucks plus tax!!!!! OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH !!! went for a nice little dinner right on next block at this great little pizzeria/restaurant while we waited. Got the wifey a nice glass of wine and picked computer up 45 minutes later. THESE GUYS ARE THE BEST !!!!

I was a LaCie user for four years when an accidental drop from my desk resulted in LOSING all access to my drive. So much for the "durable" orange protective casing. All of my client's projects and years of work lost in a second. I was desperate and like many others, immediately googled and youtubed as many solutions as I could find. I tried everything short of breaking the manufacturer seal. As it turns out, dropping a LaCie while it's running can sometimes damage the internal heads that read your data. Your options are a deadly 50/50 chance of success DIY or Rossman. I needed to know I had done my best to recover all the data so I sent my drive to Rossman. They were incredible from the start. In my panic I sent my package to the wrong address, THEY PICKED IT UP FOR ME. They informed me every step of the way where they were in the process of recovering my data. 5 weeks later and I just received my drive back with 95% of everything on my LaCie. If you need your data recovery done right choose Rossman.

I was referred to Rossmann Repair Group by a friend whose dad swears by the shop. After my Macbook Pro crashed and Mikey's Hookup in Brooklyn quoted me $511 to fix it and recover my data (plus a $90 diagnostic fee), I was desperate for a second opinion. Enter: Rossman Repair Group, who was able to get the job done for $250. What's more, the guys accidentally fixed my computer without first sending me a quote - when they realized this mistake, they graciously offered that I not pay full price for the repair. My (2018) Macbook pro's touchbar was not working, it would show the display but couldn't register touches. I initially contacted Apple and they quoted me $700 for the repair. I brought it to Rossmann on a Saturday and the guy at the front desk opened it up and tried cleaning the touchbar cable for me and said if that fixed the problem, it would be free. It did not fix the problem and they gave me a quote of $300 and said it would take until around Wednesday. I had to leave town on Tuesday and they said they would be able to ship it to me once it was repaired. On Tuesday morning, I got an email saying the repair was complete and I was able to pick it up before I left. It has been around 3 weeks since and I've had no problems with the touchbar. Highly recommend! They saved me $400 and the employees were super friendly

After years of watching Louis' YouTube vids I had to contact them for a damaged USB drive. I know they work on Apple products 99% of the time. This thumb drive had important documents that could not be reproduced, so I sent it in and they quoted me three times under what My big city wanted. Not to negate the time and work that goes into working on something so small. They are absolute professionals and I will be sending more damaged items in the future. Unfortunately, they weren't able to help with our specific issue but they were great to speak with over the phone. They were responsive, went above and beyond to answer our question and provide advice/consulting on our issue. While at the end of the day we received the same answer as other vendors we talked to (our data would not be recoverable) they were the only one who took the time to give us a detailed understanding of why and what the limitations were of recovering data from a device after it had been factory reset.
