Macbook Logic Board Repair - Repairability on its way up with newer models!

When people spill water on their laptop, it is often in the corner. People put the drink to the left or right of their machine - often the left, so they can type/use the trackpad with their right. A majority of the people in the world are righties. So when the drink spills, it is often near the D/C in board on a Macbook, which is very close to power transistors on the laptop.

Let's look at the 820-2327-A board - the board found in the 2008 Unibody Macbook, the first Unibody model. One main power mosfet that is near the top that goes frequently.

HAT1127H is a transistor that is nearly impossible to find anywhere in North America.

For the backlight of the screen, it gets worse. You get APP001A. Good luck finding this on digikey, newark, or mouser. If you blow your backlight while spilling water on your machine, or say, trying to replace your screen with the battery still plugged in(people do this all the time), you're screwed.

When it comes time to look for parts for the newer models, say, 820-2879-B motherboards, it is much easier!

As time goes on it appears Apple is using more readily available components to build their machines. This is great for us! You too. The newer your laptop, the more likely your logic board can be repaired with a quicker turnaround time.
