I stumbled on my daughter's 2012 MacBook Pro that she had been told (years ago) was beyond repair. I powered it up and a little research led me to guess that the hard drive was dead or not being seen. So I sent a note with that assumption to Rossman Repair Group. They said it could be the hard drive or it could be the drive cable which is a known issue with this model - $100 to repair if that's what it is. I gambled and paid $13 to ship it. For retail customers, Rossman will diagnose, outline the problem, and provide an estimate for free. They confirmed it was the cable and they needed the OS password to further test the operating system to make sure that it boots (loads to your desktop). I did not have the password so I asked if they could use the password reset? They replied "We wouldn't be able to reset the password, but we can wipe it and reinstall a new OS with a new password if you'd like. The hard drive cable is indeed bad on this device, with a new cable the hard drive does show up." I got it back (free return shipping), since the hard drive now shows up I was able to reset the PW and it looks to be running perfectly! Total repair cost $113.

I never write reviews, but I feel it's especially important because this store and the service they provide are one of the reasons why New York is a great city. Amid attacks on right-to-repair, on top of all the other struggles businesses in our increasingly corporatized city faces this is the kind of place that makes this city unique. I have a new MacBook Pro M1. It took an accidental bath, and Apple quoted me 2-week turnaround for repair at a number within 20% of the purchase price for the repair. I could have bought a max'd out brand new MacBook Air for less money than the amount Apple was charging for the job. It appears as though Apple doesn't repair discreet components - they junk an entire logic board and transfer the SSD over as opposed to truly trying to make a fix. Rossmann Repair Group took the time to diagnose the issue right in front of me before I dropped it off, gave me a quote that was fair and reasonable, repaired it within 48 hours, and when I went to pick it up the total cost was less than the stated quote. The machine was good as new. They knew I was willing to spend up to the quoted amount to get a repair, yet they billed me less. It's so very rare to find specialists with that sort of honesty. They knew I was willing to pay a certain price and they billed me for the true value of services rendered. While I never hope to be a repeat customer, if any future machine faces the same fate I know where I'll be going before I ever get it looked at by Apple. This place is awesome.

I decided to bring it in to Rossmann to be looked at and they found & fixed the issue within literally 30 seconds. The service and the price here is unbeatable. 10000/10 recommend these guys and will use them for any repair needed in the future.

I cannot say enough good things about Rossman Repair Group. Amazing value for the money, outstanding customer service, quick turnaround. If you have a broken Macbook, this is the place to go. A friend spilled water on their Macbook and it wouldn't power on. A local shop quoted them $3500 (!!!) just to attempt to recover the data. So my friend reached out to me and asked if there was anything I could do. I did some homework and found out that this particular Macbook (as with many Macs) had its SSD soldered to the board. So data recovery would indeed be a challenge. But $3500? Ridiculous. After I determined that I could not perform the repair or recovery myself, I came across Rossman Repair Group. While they are in Texas, their mail-in service is clearly a big part of their business, and the estimate for data recovery was literally 90% less than what the local shop wanted - $350 plus shipping. Their online service for setting up the repair and mailing it in was top notch - they have clearly been doing this for a long time. Communication was outstanding, with a tech reaching out every step of the way and clearly describing what was possible, how much it would cost, and how long it would take. Even their terms of service are written in Plain English and not Inscrutable Legalese! $370 later, I got my friend's data back, in a little over a week from the time I mailed the computer out. That price included the data extraction, the portable drive to hold the recovered data, and return shipping.

I cannot recommend working with these guys enough. A few weeks back, my 2018 Mac randomly crashed while traveling. I visited the Apple Store who offered a misdiagnosed issue and quoted me $600 for a external service that would wipe my data clean. I found the Rossmann Group online and took a leap of faith - and it paid off in heaps. They were incredibly communicative and fixed the issue in a straightforward, economical, and honest way - and the data was preserved as original. Cannot recommend them enough!

Ture Life Savers. TLDR; Don't waste your time with other repair services. Do yourself a favor and just take your machine to Rossmann Repair. You won't regret it. *Full Disclosure* - My repair was completed at the NY store, right before the cut-off for NY repairs (Dec 22). So this review will be for my experience at the old shop. However, Louis recently posted a Youtube video stating that most of the NY team has moved to Texas with him so, rest assured - you will get the same quality service. I've been following Louis and Rossmann Repair on Youtube for probably 3+ years so when my 27" iMac crashed, I knew exactly where to take it. I called Apple support first, just to check to see if they could do anything for me - but as expected - they were useless, and told me it would be better to buy a new machine since my computer was purchased in 2015 and was out of the supported repair window (of course they would). They recommended a few 3rd Party "Apple-Endorsed" repair shops in NYC that MIGHT be able to help me, but since the issue sounded complicated - they gave me a pretty bleak prediction. I preceded to call around to the 3 shops Apple recommended just to be thorough; 1 wouldn't take my machine, another one required a $150 down payment just to drop my machine off, and the other was closed. The one shop that did say they would take my machine was very short over the phone and provided ZERO assurance that they would be to fix the problems after explaining the issues - also note, I am fairly computer/tech literate and explained the issues very thoroughly - and yet, they still provided no indication of being able to help beyond: "Yeah well, bring it in and we'll let you know." That's when I knew: Louis - with his outlook for consumers - and Rossmann repair, was the only route to take. I called Rossmann the second I got off the phone with the other quack repair shops and within 5 Minutes of talking, they were concise, confident, and thorough with the steps and timeline required to fix my machine and retrieve my data; It was a no-brainer. Truly a night-and-day experience. I brought my iMac the next day. One week after I brought my machine, they followed up with a call confirming the issue (per the diagnosis) and asked me how I wanted to proceed - outlining costs, time frames, and our next check-in. A week later they told me they successfully retrieved my data (from the failing HD in my machine) and asked if I wanted to resume with the repair to regain full functionality of my machine or if the data retrieval was enough - BEFORE ANY CHARGES OR ADDITIONAL PROCEDURES; of course, I consented. One week following that, my machine was fully fixed, and an external hard drive containing 15 years worth of data, memories, and work was waiting for me to pick up. And here I am, typing this review on it now - it works flawlessly. No bullshit, no hassle, and EXTREMELY reasonably priced for the amount of work and time spent on my machine. Hopefully, I never have to send another machine to Rossmann repair but, if I need to, you'll be my go-to 100% of the time. Louis, my deepest thank you for all that you do; for your customers, for the community, and in the fight for the right to repair. And to the team at Rossmann, thank you for being patient, thorough, and supportive for when people's lives crash because of the technology we are all now beholden to. My MacBook Air got dropped in a body of water and stopped turning on. After getting a consult from a different group, they referred me here as they didn't have the right parts to extract the data from my hard drive. Initial consult took maybe 5-10 minutes of waiting before they told me they would be able to extract the data and move it to a new location (which ended up being my new MacBook Pro) for $100. This was versus the $750 Apple was quoting me and they would need me to ship my laptop to them (no thanks). Initially told me it would take one day. The following day when I called to follow up, they mentioned it may take another day, mostly I believe because they were busy. After letting them know I needed my laptop for work they were able to accommodate me and get it done that same day. Overall, quick/easy/efficient/good price point. The only downside to their reputable nature is that they are quite busy. Fortunately for me, my issue was relatively straightforward. But for a more complex issue their turnaround time will likely be slower, so make sure you let them know your time frame and get a time quote in addition to your $$$ quote for your own planning. Thanks! Will definitely return (but hope I won't have to).

Unfortunately, they weren't able to help with our specific issue but they were great to speak with over the phone. They were responsive, went above and beyond to answer our question and provide advice/consulting on our issue. While at the end of the day we received the same answer as other vendors we talked to (our data would not be recoverable) they were the only one who took the time to give us a detailed understanding of why and what the limitations were of recovering data from a device after it had been factory reset.

When all others failed, Rossmann did not!!! In January of this year a snow storm knocked out the power at my house and a very important external hard drive of mine was affected. My computer could tell that there was a drive connected but would not read it. All it was doing was making a clicking noise. I made an appointment to a chain electronics and appliance store. They took one look at it, plugged it in, and then handed it back to me telling me that there was nothing to be done to fix it. I made another appointment, this time for a local computer repair company. They had my drive for two weeks but with no luck. They then sent the drive off to a higher repair company that they work with. This company attempted to work on my hard drive for about a month. Eventually, after replacing parts and trying all that they could, they returned it to me, stating that it was lost and could not be recovered. I had given up on the drive. This drive contained all of my photography business back to 2016. Haven't lost so much, I was about to shut down my small business. My wife posted a message to some friends asking if anyone could recommend anything for me. Someone suggested Rossmann. I reached out to them and sent my drive in, not expecting anything but more disappointment. The crew of Rossmann were constantly in touch with me letting me know what was going on with my drive. After some time, they called me to tell me that it would be another month or so because they had to fix whatever the prior company had tried to do. My drive was with them for a few months that I had actually forgotten about it. One rough day at work and just getting home, I received a call from a repair company that was in my phone contacts. I figured it was some construction company wanting to offer me some home remodeling deal. When the guy on the other end told me that they had recovered my hard drive it had completely made my day so much better. I had written it off as a complete loss and Rossmann had saved it all. They set up a time with me to get online and remote connect with them to be able to see my drive in their system and review my files. I was very happy with what I was seeing. They mailed my drive back to me and even contacted me shortly after the delivery date to ensure I got the drive and was happy with it. I couldn't be more pleased. All that was lost was not actually gone and what three other tech companies could not do, Rossmann did!

My Mac Book Air was damaged by a water spill. I turned it on briefly, then it shut down and it would not boot up again. Knowing how damaging a liquid spill can be on a Mac Book, I reluctantly took it to the Apple Store to assess the damage. I was told at the Apple store that it would cost me at least $750.00 to have the hard drive replaced and that would be my only option. I was also encouraged to purchase a new one rather than putting that much money into it. I did not want to spend that kind of money so I went home feeling like all was lost. A local business near my home in West Chester Ohio highly recommended the Rossmann Repair Group in New York City. Reluctantly, I packed it up and sent it to this company after researching it online. I also called and talked to the owner describing the problem. He was very professional and personable. Within two weeks, I received a reply back from the owner through their website letting me know they had completed their assessment. I called again and spoke to the owner because there was no charge on the invoice. The owner said to me, "All we needed to do was an ultra-sonic cleaning, we cleaned a bit of gunk out of it and we don't feel like we should charge you anything". I was absolutely amazed at the integrity of this man and this company. He could have charged me hundreds of dollars for a repair, I would never have known. I HIGHLY recommend this company. It is rare that you find that level of honesty and integrity in a company. My laptop was cleaned and is now working like it were brand new. (see the photo below) All I paid this company was for shipping to return it back to me. Again, I would highly recommend this company. The Apple store will no longer be my first stop for issues concerning any of my Apple products. This guy and his company are the real deal.

Replaced the battery on my macbook pro. Quoted me the price on friday, done by monday, picked it up tuesday, 90 day guarantee. So much less hassel than genius bar.
