If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Long story short my wife's macbook pro wouldn't see hard drive. Upon startup all we saw was a blinking file with a question mark. Called apple and made appointment with "genius" bar. They said that hard drive was dead and to take it to a micro center or similar store to try and get my wife's pics and videos (which she NEVER backed up) off of the dead drive. My wife was in tears now because it wasn't even a definite that she could recover them. Pricing for this according to numerous data recovery shops was 500-1500 and like I said it wasn't definite they could get the data. Well went on yelp and saw Rossman repair group which was a 40 minute drive and had 4.5 stars on yelp. Their pricing was tiered according to what had to be done to get the data and started at around 200 bucks so I figured I'd take a ride into the city with the wifey and hope for the best. Upon walking into this little shop a nice young lady asked to see the computer. She started started it up, saw the blinking file and handed it to a gentleman sitting at a work desk right next to her. The guy says might be a cable issue they're known to go bad in these computers. He then opened the computer, hooked up his hard drive and it still didn't work. Cable is bad and NOT HARD DRIVE!!!! Give us about 20 minutes we have these in stock and it will cost 100 bucks plus tax!!!!! OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH !!! went for a nice little dinner right on next block at this great little pizzeria/restaurant while we waited. Got the wifey a nice glass of wine and picked computer up 45 minutes later. THESE GUYS ARE THE BEST !!!!

I traveled two and a half hours each way to take my laptop in to Rossmann Repair Group because I was so impressed with the skill and expertise displayed in Louis Rossmann's YouTube channel (in addition to its hilariousness and occasionally brilliant wit and wisdom). It was important to me to go to a repair store that I had trust and confidence in.Louis and his colleagues were extraordinarily diligent, professional, thorough, transparent and went far above and beyond what was necessary and greatly exceeded my expectations. This was literally the best customer service experience I can remember by far. I would recommend Rossmann Repair Group to anyone without reservations. Louis and his colleagues are also among the most uncompromisingly ethical professionals I've ever met - as another reviewer pointed out, they literally invest huge amounts of uncompensated time to educate customers on how systematically faulty MacBooks are despite having a business model reliant on people continuing to buy them.Seriously, if you care about your computer, time, money, data, etc., I wouldn't risk going anywhere else for MacBook repair.

Quick fix for the hard drive stops working hardware failure on the MacBook Pro. Quick tip, it's not the drive itself but a problem on the mother board.

Simply the email "request a quote" feature was enough for me to come here and make my first ever review. They couldn't even fix my problem due to it being a severe legacy hardware failure, but were quick, upfront and honest about it, even linking me to a work around that will allow me to recover my files and transfer them to a new device or hard drive. There is really something to be said about this quality of service, I would have stuck my logic board back in the oven like an idiot (again) potentially bricking the entire thing forever. I can't wait to tell people about my trip to Rossmann Repair Group™®©°.I walked in there to ask quotes on replacing an old HHD in my laptop with a new SSD.The second I walked in I KNEW this place was ~special~."What up Rossman?" I bellowed as I entered, despite never being a customer before."What it is, NERD" retorted Rossman, decked out in some weird mixture of a dog and raver-clown costume.While I tried explaining that I was looking to replace my HHD with an SSD he interrupted and said "hold on a minute", and immediately jumped the counter and started rolling around on the floor, ecstatically, like some sort of mad man."I'm a pew-pew roller coaster on my way to tinsel town, and not a hogwash in a tornado can stop me!" he exclaimed.He then made "airplane noises" as he went around and around on the floor.I was shocked and amused."I'll puck off every straw kettle this side of the Mason Dixie line! Even the spanked tangerine ones! I ain't no bigot!" he continued.I didn't know what to think.Just then another customer entered the store.Rossman jumped up and loudly stomped up to the customer, very child-like."I am very mister business man to meet you" Rossman said, as he stuck out his hand in a shaking gesture.But the costumer just collapsed into gleaming sands! No kidding!Rossman turned to me in amazement and said "DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS? WE'RE PRESIDENT PARTIES NOW!".I had no idea what that meant, but that was just the beginning of our adventures.2 million years later and a Time Trucker later, we arrived back at his store (and hour before I originally entered) and he quoted me a price on SSDs, drive cloning and labor.Best darn repair shop ever.He was the best friend a guy could ask for and the greatest space pilot I'd ever known, (and an ever better repair man!).Here's to you, Rossman!

Extremely knowledgeable staff that care about fixing your device for far less than it would cost to replace it. Don't act like a jerk in here just because you are frustrated that your expensive machine is broken. The lady in front of me literally had her problem diagnosed (case opened, board examined, hard drive and ram tested) for free, mind you, only to discover that the issue was just her broken charger cable. She was complaining that they didn't contact her promptly during the Thanksgiving holiday. She was acting anxiously and kept trying to blame them until she found out she didn't owe them any money; then she ran out. Don't act like that. These are smart people that are trying to help you.

ROSSMANN GROUP SAVED MY 2010 MACBOOK PRO! My 2010 MacBook Pro was on it's last leg. It had gotten to a point where it would shut down & restart 3 times within 10 mins of use. I had replaced the memory & upgraded my hard drive, neither of which fixed the incessant kernel panics (shutdown-restarts). In my desperation to save my really old computer, I searched the internet for weeks & eventually found Rossmann on YouTube. I watched a lot of their videos & decided to ship my computer to them in hopes that they could fix it by replacing the crap capacitor*. I shipped my MacBook out to Rossmann on a Monday & it arrived in their NYC shop two days later. Rossmann immediately fixed it upon arrival (same day!) & invoiced me. I didn't check my email until Thursday, which is when I paid their invoice & they shipped the computer back out to me. I received my MacBook that following Monday, but had I checked my email on Wednesday, I would have received it on Saturday, just 5 days after shipping it out for repair. The turnaround was incredibly fast & my computer has been running like new with daily use since I got it back a few weeks ago. I'm so thankful I found Rossmann Group's informative YouTube videos about MacBook Pro's kernel panics. The repair was less than 1/10 what a new MacBook Pro would have cost, literally saving me well over $2,000. I'll never take my MacBook to Apple or another shop for repair again, local or not. We are forever Rossmann customers! *NOTE: Even though it's a very affordable & quick repair, the MacBook capacitor issue isn't well-known or something that Apple advertises. Our local computer repair shops weren't even aware of it! I was basically told by 2 local shops that my MacBook wasn't repairable & I needed to get a new computer. Meanwhile, Rossmann fixed it in a matter of minutes! If you're up in the air on whether or not shipping your computer is worth it, I'm here to tell you that it is 100% worth shipping to Rossmann. They're honest (sometimes brutally so) & reliable. If your computer can't be fixed, they'll simply tell you so & you can pay the cost of shipping to have it shipped back to you.

I was getting an unmountable boot volume error that was just unrecoverable from. It's an old computer that had served me well. It had been SO consistent over the years I had gotten lazy with backups and was nowhere near current. I was given a quote after diagnosis for recovery of data place on a new external drive. I told them specifically what folders to aim for and as it turned out the were able to recover the entire root structure in the format I requested so I just need to copy my old document, video, picture and music files onto a new computer I purchased as a replacement once I got the bad news of its passing. What rocks is that I now have my files back. AND a new external hard drive to use as my backup and a reminder to never forget that lesson. (Can you say automatic back ups?) Thanks Kevin and crew. Oh... and they said it was easier than expected and reduced the quote to reflect the time they saved on the easier recovery.Lastly, they were kind, listened, timely for this kind if work which is very time intensive and had a very conscious "no contact" in and out process that is SO appreciated at this time. GO HERE, no scams & good advice (Spoke with Kevin)! Had an issue with my hard drive, went to a place called Mikes Repair Shop in Chelsea, they were trying to charge me way more. Got a second option at Rossmann, come to find out that the issue was as simple as getting a different cord. Saved me $170 which was what Mikes Repair place was trying to charge + 2-3 day process to get it fixed. Anyways recommend coming to Rossmann 100%!

I sent in an external hard drive that bricked on me. Its a drive I plug in once a year, dump phone videos, photos, and then back on the shelf til next year. This year I went to free up some space and found the drive wouldn't respond. It had the first 10 years of my daughter growing up and I was freaking out. I had almost accepted they were gone until a friend at work mentioned RRG. I crossed my fingers and sent in the drive, not expecting good news (or some astronomical fee that would force me to put a price on those memories). Instead I got a call a few days after mailing saying not only could they repair the drive, but for a fraction of the cost I was expecting. 10/10 would recommend to anyone needing any services they provide.

My 2017 Macbook Pro's hard drive got bricked after updating to Apple's Catalina OS (no hard drive was detected). *Yes, Apple's software update physically corrupted my hard drive. I went to my local Apple store and was quoted over $800 to get my Macbook in working order, despite the issue happening because of a known Apple bug. I've been watching Louis's videos on YouTube for some time and decided to ship my Macbook from Hawaii to his shop in New York. His team was very straight forward and repaired my laptop at a fraction of the cost (considering new hard drive + installation)! I can't thank Louis and his team enough! Rossman Repair Group saved me over $600 to repair my computer!My MacBook Pro stopped charging and I went to Apple to have it repaired. They were going to charge me a flat fee that came up to around $865 to fix whatever was wrong. Unfortunately, their “water damage indicator” was triggered and they didn’t even check to see what was wrong and instead asked for $1200 to replace the whole motherboard, which would have been almost half the price of a brand new computer and I would have lost all of my data. My boyfriend recommended I try out Rossman Repair Group before I decided to just accept paying Apple that much. He watches their repair videos on YouTube! I sent my computer in and they repaired my computer (my logic board was the issue) for $462!!! For less than half of what Apple was asking, I got my computer fixed promptly, received e-mails from a real person, and my computer works good as new!I really don’t write reviews, especially long ones, but I hope that my story and experience helps other people decide to choose this business!
