I was getting an unmountable boot volume error that was just unrecoverable from. It's an old computer that had served me well. It had been SO consistent over the years I had gotten lazy with backups and was nowhere near current. I was given a quote after diagnosis for recovery of data place on a new external drive. I told them specifically what folders to aim for and as it turned out the were able to recover the entire root structure in the format I requested so I just need to copy my old document, video, picture and music files onto a new computer I purchased as a replacement once I got the bad news of its passing. What rocks is that I now have my files back. AND a new external hard drive to use as my backup and a reminder to never forget that lesson. (Can you say automatic back ups?) Thanks Kevin and crew. Oh... and they said it was easier than expected and reduced the quote to reflect the time they saved on the easier recovery.Lastly, they were kind, listened, timely for this kind if work which is very time intensive and had a very conscious "no contact" in and out process that is SO appreciated at this time. I like his YouTube channel, sent my iPad in for screen repair, and am very happy with his repair service. My only complaint is the USPS delivery who has started leaving boxes at the curb by my driveway. As an Amazon seller I have shifted to UPS, a little more expensive but better delivery drivers. The Stamps.com rate is better than I could get going direct with UPS, but price vs USPS is lower when shipping East Coast, to East Coast, it is a little more on West Coast. Rossmann is 5 star.

My 2017 Macbook Pro's hard drive got bricked after updating to Apple's Catalina OS (no hard drive was detected). *Yes, Apple's software update physically corrupted my hard drive. I went to my local Apple store and was quoted over $800 to get my Macbook in working order, despite the issue happening because of a known Apple bug. I've been watching Louis's videos on YouTube for some time and decided to ship my Macbook from Hawaii to his shop in New York. I had an iPhone 8 that was totally dead, wouldn't recognize being plugged into a computer or power outlet. The biggest problem was that it hadn't been backed up in a long time and there 5000+ photos and videos of our kids were potentially lost.I sent it in to RRG and got a call from Kevin (who was the tech who was actually going to be handling my repair). After being a repair person myself, sometimes i have to admit defeat, and when my 2019 MBPro died, knowing who Louis Rossmann, and being an advocate for the right to repair myself, on principal, even if I could just swap a board since my data was backed up, I went to this company. I cannot say I've been happier to use an electronics repair service. My laptop died for really no reason (no drop, no spills, just died after going into sleep) and I sent it off to the repair place, and the laptop came back working. I know they did a component-level repair, something I admit I'm not quite there yet experience wise, and am very impressed with the level of communication, the service, and the repair they did was astounding. Since I felt lazy, also asked if they would install the iFixit battery I had sitting around I hadn't gotten done yet (turns out, I'm also going through cancer treatments while working my normal IT Job @ a major printer company, so very little energy) and the price was more than reasonable to recover what I consider a valuable laptop for me. My battery was installed (Normally a PITA to do) and the laptop was done quickly even though I didn't pay for rush processing. Quicker than I expected. I cannot recommend this place enough. And i'm an IT Pro myself with experience doing electronics and BGA reflows, but I was a bit over my head trying to find what broke and these people managed to do it. And with my data chips soldered in, I know they got the same board working again, and am amazed at their skill as an IT pro company. They don't just swap components, THEY FIX THEM! That is something extremely rare to find, and worse, most of the time it's more expensive. This company is beyond amazing, and I can't think of a better use of my money to support a company that sponsors actually repairing rather than replacing, and does it so well. Great experience. These guys know what they are doing and are so honest, it is almost scary. I sent them a hard drive for data recovery and was informed that a recovery might be possible, but was highly unlikely. I watched one of their videos on YouTube and it made perfect sense why. Everyone else wanted to charge me $1300, whether or not they could recover the data. Louis, thank you for what you do, what you represent, and who you are.

I have a 2021 MacBook Pro that just died. Flatlined. Took it to Apple Store in Plano, TX and Oklahoma City, OK. They both said system has an internal short and for $848, they could repair it. Problem is, I still had data on it that I needed. Apple said no chance on preserving any data because logic board and SSD are encrypted and it's an M1 laptop. They were going to replace logic board which would wipe everything on SSD. Only 16 months of life and this "incredible" Apple product died. No damage, moisture, cracks, or scuffs and it died. Apple Geniuses said probably a defective board but since they're Apple, I'll still have to pay for repair and since there's no activity, $0 for trade in. Have you heard about our "pay for cloud storage??????" Apple quality has dropped significantly. Steve Jobs must be rolling over in shame and disgust. Fortunately there is the Rossmann Repair Group. Shipped it to their Austin, TX facility. They were constantly communicating with me about the status of my MacBook Pro. Let me tell you who fixed my MacBook Pro M1 with SSD. NOT Apple. I have a 2017 macbook pro. For those who aren't aware this model had a ton of design flaws.A few months ago Apple replaced my keyboard and battery for free which was great. Then it started crashing unexpectedly.Apple wanted $500 (before tax) to repair the issue.Rossmann quoted me $350 (total), so i went with them.When I came to pick up my laptop the guy at the front handed my computer back, told me there was some debris in one of my usb-c slots, and that the problem was fixed. He also told me they had fixed it FOR FREE, since they didn't need to do any real repairs/labor. That was amazing and I really appreciate the honesty because I'm sure Apple would have charged me $500 for the same fix.And yes my computer seems to be working fine.I only have one constructive criticism: which is the time it took to get my computer back. I brought it in on a Friday night, seeing that they were open on the weekend, i figured I could have my computer back by Monday or Tuesday. The guy at the front informed me that they don't do repairs on weekends, so I'd have it back Wednesday, absolutely latest Thursday.Well, half way through Thursday I hadn't heard back, so i left a comment on the ticket asking for an update - to which they replied they'd have it ready Friday or the following Monday. I had a feeling this meant Monday and that turned out to be the case. Thankfully I didn't absolutely need my Mac those few extra days past the original Wed/Thurs estimate they gave...but I definitely wasn't thrilled about that.So my recommendation for your database/ticketing system: please add a date that specifies the estimated completion date communicated to the customer at drop off. This way your company can be proactive and reach out to customers if repairs will take longer than expected...and ensure everyone is on the same page about the most updated time to complete.But again, thank you for the repair/service, and I look forward to more great videos from Louis on YT :)

My USB-C MacBook Pro recently stopped charging. The local Apple Store wanted to replace the whole logic board, which was expensive and would have lost all my data. I asked them if it was the charging circuit and they specifically said "no".

I mailed my Mac to Rossmann, and they correctly identified the problem as being the charging circuit after all. The repair was cheaper than Apple, was just as fast, and (because it didn't require replacing the logic board) I got to keep all of my data.

Overall I couldn't be happier. I used the prepaid shipping box they sell, and the service was smooth and fast.
