Macbook spill damage is serious because it corrodes sensitive electronic components, but it’s not unfixable. At Apple, you will hear quotes of $750 to $1600 to repair Macbook water damage. Their claim will be that they must replace the entire board with an overpriced tier 3 or tier 4 repair. The reality is that they are not interested in getting their hands dirty fixing the totally reusable parts you already have: it’s easier for them to gouge your wallet by replacing everything.

macbook water damage repair

As soon as you get liquid in your Macbook you should stop using it. Turning it on will just make it worse as this allows electricity to flow through shorted wet components causing it to look like the board in the picture below. Even when the damage is this extensive we can repair it, but it is best to minimize damage so we have a higher likelihood of fixing your board in a reasonable timeframe.

When you come to Rossmann’s, WE fix it!

What sets Rossmann Repair Group apart? Most companies must outsource component-level motherboard repair because they don’t know how to do it or they don’t have the necessary tools. With Rossmann Group, the buck stops here. We repair your Macbook, we repair your logic board, and you only deal with us. Our company has helped instruct thousands of other repair technicians on how to perform these repairs via free YouTube contentguides, and personal instruction

So happy someone recommended this place. They charged me half of what Apple quoted me for a small spill on my MacBook Air. And although they said it would take 7-10 days, they emailed to say my computer was ready in 2. It's literally running like its brand new. I'm so grateful! The staff is fabulous! The guy who takes the computers is super friendly and helpful. And the front desk guy who quotes you is knowledgeable, fast, and cute. Im so excited to have saved $400. I'll be much more careful from now on. And God willing I won't have to come back.

Let me first note that I have been in the computer repair business since 2002. Of course, computer repair encompasses a very wide spectrum these days, and my expertise is more in Windows/Mac software, networking and general upgrades. When it comes to board/circuit repair - that's not me. I let the pro's handle it. When it comes to Apple, if it's under warranty (or the Genius Bar folks are feeling kind) I will let them do the repairs, as I'm local in Orange County, CA. Now then, liquid damage to Mac's or out-of-warranty repair I trust only one firm - Rossmann Repair Group. I'm sure there is someone here local but after watching Louis's Youtube videos and experiencing their work first hand, I can confidently recommend them. It's a $25 trip across the country USPS Priority so no big deal. I also want to take this opportunity to thank Steve in particular who stays in communication and follows up promptly when necessary. Great job guys! Many thanks for the honesty, fairness, and quality work.

I sent 2 MacBook Pros for repair, he told me that one of them was repairable but no the other because of a failure that is common on that model, if he repaired the problem, it will happen again very soon. He was sincere and I like that, at least he explained why. Apple Store "Genius" did not look at it, did not open it or even try anything. Sad. The other laptop had water damage but now it runs like new. Price for the repair was really fair. I will send any Mac to them without hesitation. I would like to say thanks to Louis Rossmann and his team.

5 star ratingI am out of state, and I shipped my liquid damaged keyboard MacBook to Rossmann on the recommendation of a friend. Their response time to my emails was great. It took a little longer than I expected, but the new keyboard is perfect and much cheaper than Apple would have charged. Great service.

5 star ratingI had the pleasure of visiting the Rossmann Repair Group in Austin one day almost two years ago as friends of mine needed an evaluation of a broken Macbook Pro, a bad hard drive and possible data transfer. Louis Rossmann greeted us immediately and was very friendly and patient. He told us exactly what the problem was and said that the Macbook Pro was beyond repair due to bad GPU connections. In fact he saw this as soon as he turned it on, he could detect very faint lines on the screen which indicated this issue. He was very honest about this, he said that some places would get it to work for a while by heating it up and charging a few hundred dollars, but that the repair would not last long and it would certainly fail again.

My friend asked him if he could transfer the data from the Macbook to a Mac Mini so it would work like the Macbook. He said he could and it would take a couple of days. We returned a few days later to pick everything up. The cost was very reasonable and my friends were very satisfied with the service. He gave the bad HD back to us, said it would require sending to a recovery center. Just honest. No ripoffs.

In this tech repair industry, dishonesty is very common since tech people know the average person has no clue about any of this technology and there is almost no chance they would know if they are being fooled or how much the repair is really worth. I know this well since I also do computer and electronics repair and support myself and I know how easy it would be to fool customers left and right! I don't do this and I highly appreciate other tech experts who aren't tempted to profit from people's trust and innocence!

So in summary, if you don't want to get ripped of and lied to, and are looking for a highly competent reliable technician, make sure you go here with your Mac equipment. If you like, you can stop by an Apple Genius bar first for a good laugh, while they give you the wrong diagnosis, quote you an insanely high repair price, and try to convince you to buy a whole new unit.

Finally, if you want to be amazed, look for Louis Rossmann on YouTube and watch some of his videos where he shows exactly how he repairs the "unrepairable" and inspires many others to do their own repairs, start their own repair businesses and with his tireless entrepreneurial positive attitude even motivates disillusioned young students to not give up on school and go to college! (In fact one student said he was about to give up on education but after watching Louis on YouTube he made the decision to enter Med school! Now that's remarkable!)

Louis is such a great guy, that in some cases where the issue is very minor, like a bad cable, he even does the repair for no charge! Try to find anybody who is willing to do anything for no charge these days! (The Genius bar would certainly tell you that your unit has been water damaged, when it wasn't, (maybe was in a humid room which would turn the water indicators red!) and quote you $1000 for a repair that would cost them $7 for the cable)

Louis Rossmann is a hero, one of those rare individuals who make positive contributions to individuals and society every single day. I am pretty sure that anybody who gives him a bad review probably either is part of Apple, or considers Apple to be some kind of religious deity.

After spilling beer on my 2020 macbook pro keyboard, I mailed my computer from St. Louis to the Rossmann Repair Group. I was surprised by how quickly they were able to look at it! They replaced my sticky keyboard and shipped it back to me less than a month after I dropped it at UPS (even with the holidays!). The keyboard is working great now, and it was a huge comfort to know that there was no damage or corrosion on the more sensitive parts of my laptop. I was hesitant about shipping off my laptop to a shop in another state, but this truly was a great and easy experience. And it was definitely miles better than paying Apple $1300 for a laptop worth $650 when there wasn't even any major damage!

5 star ratingStill in shock!! Rossmann Repair Group is AMAZING! Was planning to toss out our MacBook Air after a small water spill rendered it useless -- would have been more than it originally cost to repair through Apple. But, seriously, in the space of ONE WEEK, this company had it evaluated, quoted, repaired AND shipped back to me, all for about 20% of what Apple planned to charge. Did I mention superior communication and customer service, on top of computer repair skills?! We're so grateful! So glad we ran across Rossmann Repair Group in a Google search! :) Thank you!

5 star ratingTwice was saved by Rossmann Repair. First it was liquid damaged MacBook Air, now Iphone SE 2020 who conveniently, after 1 year manufacturer warranty ran out, threw vertical stripes over the screen. Very reasonable repair pricing. Both times used mail in option, since parking nearby is “mission impossible”.

What can I say? These guys are the best at what they do. I brought in a 2019 Macbook Pro that suffered from an entire beer bottle spill. At the end of all the repairs, a month later of getting it back, it kept panicking and shutting off with high cpu usage tasks. They then refunded me the repair costs since it was not able to be saved. I ended up also selling it to them for parts and now happy with my Lenovo. My two friends who I also referred are super happy with their services as well. They are also just finished a hard drive recovery and transferred the data to a new hard drive for me. Top notch service and fairness. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM.

5 star ratingThese guys are the best in the business. I sent in a MacBook for and analysis to see if my laptop was worth saving from water damage. They gave me a complete detailed report as to why it wasn't. This came in handy when I went to sell the unit for parts on eBay. I copied all the notes and used them in my description so to completely inform the buyer. You get what you pay for and these guys are worth every cent.

I spilled a spoonful of milk and cereal on my Macbook Air and two weeks later, the wifi stops working. I walked in for a diagnosis and it turned out that replacing the wifi card twice didn't work. One of his employees told me that something was wrong with the logic board and it'd be $325. I accepted this, knowing Apple would have charged me twice the price most likely. Two days later, I get a call in the morning that my machine is ready for pickup. I get there and ask the guy how much it'd be and he told me they won't actually charge me, and instead asked for a good tip. I left $40 in the tip jar. So there you go folks. 40 bucks for what would have cost hundreds at Apple. Skip the Apple Store and take your machine to Rossmann.

Take your tech to Rossman!!! They are awesome and infinitely more helpful than going to the Apple store!! I took my water-damaged MacBook there and was met with patience and honesty. After making a quick check - in my plain sight, NOT secretly behind closed doors - to determine that my laptop could probably be repaired, they walked me through the process and the cost structure. I would pay the basic repair cost ONLY IF THEY SUCCEEDED in repairing it. Also they would keep me informed and would not proceed with anything requiring an additional cost without obtaining my approval first. I agreed to start the process and was pleasantly surprised that there was also NO UPFRONT COST! That's how fair and confident they are! I HIGHLY recommend RRG and would go there again for a repair in a heartbeat. Thank you RRG for giving me options, freedom and respecting and supporting out rights to repair. MY TECH, MY CHOICE!

Had an amazing experience working with Rossman Repair Group. Spilled a cup of coffee on my 2020 MacbookPro, and even though it worked for a few minutes after the incident it soon died. I thought I would go on Youtube and see if I could find out how to open up my device and clean it, and managed to find my way to Mr Rossman's videos. Soon realized it would be foolish to try and do it myself - went to his website and saw that they offer a mail in free quote (I paid to ship, they do a free quote) service so it was a no brainer to send it to this guy and his team after watching a few of his videos. Apple quoted me at 1.1k to repair and once it was said it done RRG repaired my machine (logic board plus some touch pad bits for $600). I thought I was never going to be able to use my machine again and they revived it for me (using it to type this review) and I am eternally grateful to them! Their online portal for communication was super easy to use, very transparent process with no hidden fees. Very fair price all things considered. Thank you to the team at RRG! My recommendations: 1) Don't spill anything on your Mac, 2) if you do, send it to RRG and let them fix it.

They fixed it! I was told by everyone, including the mac store, that I had to buy a new computer after I spilled coffee on my Mac book pro, and it stopped turning on. I sent it to Rossman group, and they fixed it miraculously! I am so grateful!!!
