Macbook spill damage is serious because it corrodes sensitive electronic components, but it’s not unfixable. At Apple, you will hear quotes of $750 to $1600 to repair Macbook water damage. Their claim will be that they must replace the entire board with an overpriced tier 3 or tier 4 repair. The reality is that they are not interested in getting their hands dirty fixing the totally reusable parts you already have: it’s easier for them to gouge your wallet by replacing everything.

macbook water damage repair

As soon as you get liquid in your Macbook you should stop using it. Turning it on will just make it worse as this allows electricity to flow through shorted wet components causing it to look like the board in the picture below. Even when the damage is this extensive we can repair it, but it is best to minimize damage so we have a higher likelihood of fixing your board in a reasonable timeframe.

When you come to Rossmann’s, WE fix it!

What sets Rossmann Repair Group apart? Most companies must outsource component-level motherboard repair because they don’t know how to do it or they don’t have the necessary tools. With Rossmann Group, the buck stops here. We repair your Macbook, we repair your logic board, and you only deal with us. Our company has helped instruct thousands of other repair technicians on how to perform these repairs via free YouTube contentguides, and personal instruction

Couldn't ask for a better experience. I spilled liquid on my Macbook Air. It wasn't a big spill, but I sent it to Rossman Repair and they cleaned it, fixed the wonky charging port, and unstuck a few keys. All of this for the cost of shipping! I can't recommend them enough. It took two weeks for the mail in repair, and most of that was shipping time. They were professional and responsive to top if off!

5 star ratingTwo years ago I spilled nail polisher remover all over my 2015 Macbook Pro keyboard because I am an idiot. I thought it was a goner so I didn't bother to take it to the Genius Bar as I figured the cost of repair would be just as high as a new machine. It just sat in a drawer for about a year until my friend in IT highly recommended the Rossman Repair Group. I shipped my laptop to NY from SF expecting to get a high price quote back from them but that was not the case! I gave the green light on the repair and got my laptop back in about a week. The tech who worked on my laptop was responsive and did a great job. It's been about 6 months since the repair and it works great. I highly recommend RRG's services to anyone who needs their Apple products fixed especially if the Apple Genius quote you some non-sense cost of repair or tell you to replace it.

5 star ratingTake your tech to Rossman!!! They are awesome and infinitely more helpful than going to the Apple store!! I took my water-damaged MacBook there and was met with patience and honesty. After making a quick check - in my plain sight, NOT secretly behind closed doors - to determine that my laptop could probably be repaired, they walked me through the process and the cost structure. I would pay the basic repair cost ONLY IF THEY SUCCEEDED in repairing it. Also they would keep me informed and would not proceed with anything requiring an additional cost without obtaining my approval first. I agreed to start the process and was pleasantly surprised that there was also NO UPFRONT COST! That's how fair and confident they are!I HIGHLY recommend RRG and would go there again for a repair in a heartbeat. Thank you RRG for giving me options, freedom and respecting and supporting out rights to repair. MY TECH, MY CHOICE!

Rossman Repair Group saved me over $600 to repair my computer! My MacBook Pro stopped charging and I went to Apple to have it repaired. They were going to charge me a flat fee that came up to around $865 to fix whatever was wrong. Unfortunately, their “water damage indicator” was triggered and they didn’t even check to see what was wrong and instead asked for $1200 to replace the whole motherboard, which would have been almost half the price of a brand new computer and I would have lost all of my data. My boyfriend recommended I try out Rossman Repair Group before I decided to just accept paying Apple that much. He watches their repair videos on YouTube! I sent my computer in and they repaired my computer (my logic board was the issue) for $462!!! For less than half of what Apple was asking, I got my computer fixed promptly, received e-mails from a real person, and my computer works good as new!I really don’t write reviews, especially long ones, but I hope that my story and experience helps other people decide to choose this business!

5 star ratingMy MacBook Air got dropped in a body of water and stopped turning on. After getting a consult from a different group, they referred me here as they didn't have the right parts to extract the data from my hard drive. Initial consult took maybe 5-10 minutes of waiting before they told me they would be able to extract the data and move it to a new location (which ended up being my new MacBook Pro) for $100. This was versus the $750 Apple was quoting me and they would need me to ship my laptop to them (no thanks). Initially told me it would take one day. The following day when I called to follow up, they mentioned it may take another day, mostly I believe because they were busy. After letting them know I needed my laptop for work they were able to accommodate me and get it done that same day. Overall, quick/easy/efficient/good price point. The only downside to their reputable nature is that they are quite busy. Fortunately for me, my issue was relatively straightforward. But for a more complex issue their turnaround time will likely be slower, so make sure you let them know your time frame and get a time quote in addition to your $$$ quote for your own planning. Thanks! Will definitely return (but hope I won't have to).

I had spilled coffee on my MacBook Pro and I took it to a repair company near where I live. Worrying about what could be wrong, I stumbled across one of Louis' videos. I was impressed about what I had listened to, I went and picked up my computer and shipped it from Kansas. It was during the holidays and I am sure the anticipation of wanting it completed and when it actually was didn't help. However, Steve was a gem and did communicate with me when I inquired via email or by phone. I am impressed by the price of the logic board repair and their expertise. It was worth the time and effort to send this to Rossman Group. I am glad my computer is back home and I am able to continue using it. Again, thank you Rossman Group for a job well done.

This is my second time sending my laptop for a repair. Liquid damage the first time and this time a broken screen. They are reasonable with prices (Apple quoted me the price I paid for the laptop!!) I was nervous at first, shipping it from Wisconsin but everything worked out great both times!!!

Twice was saved by Rossmann Repair. First it was liquid damaged MacBook Air, now Iphone SE 2020 who conveniently, after 1 year manufacturer warranty ran out, threw vertical stripes over the screen. Very reasonable repair pricing. Both times used mail in option, since parking nearby is “mission impossible”.

5 star ratingVery friendly and intuitive.
I went in to see if I could repair my friend's water damaged Macbook and if they couldn't fix it, I didn't have to pay anything thing. Unfortunately, it was unsalvageable, and they held true to their word. I didn't have to pay a penny for it.

Despite being unable to fix an expensive laptop that I was hoping to see come alive again, I am greatly impressed by the great customer service. The gentleman at the counter helped me quickly diagnose what the issues were, what parts were damages by the water, what had corrosion, etc.

If I ever somehow end up owning a MacBook myself, I will definitely be coming to these guys should it fail on me.

Keep up the good work

5 star ratingPhenomenal repair shop! My moms Macbook pro 16 with coffee spills was pretty much done for, we were heart broken so much money down the drain, luckily my brother stumbled upon this shop online. They live in Chicago, mind you they took a hige leap of faith to mail it in. Long srory short they fixed it at a fraction of what it would cost -600 bucks! For coffee spills they usually switch mother boards ect and you get a bill similar to the price of the computer. They are super transparent about the process. In todays age very few places you can blindly trust, and why i would highly recommend Rossmans to any one around the country, they literally saved my mom from a $2800 loss, so happy! Months down the line im trying to swap out my hard drive in my 21.5 imac and finding the right tape is tricky. Ive heard heaps of horror story of screens falling off in the middle of the night... Any hoot i called them up and asked them for the info, they not only ready helped me over the phone, they also went ahead and gave me there supplier for the adhesive im looking for! This goes to show what an amazing store this is! Thanks guys you rock!

5 star ratingI came back here for the second time earlier this year when I spilled water on my brand new 2019 macbook pro 15". Right when the water spilled, I turned it off, left it open, flipped it upside down and left it there for 3 days with a fan on it. Then I took it in to have it looked at. They told me that since it's so new, they didn't have any parts for it and wouldn't for a while, but they could still take a look at it and clean it thoroughly for free. The man working on it showed me where the water had gotten and told me what he was seeing the entire time. The only thing that ended up being damaged was the screen; the whole left side was filled with water. He said it would probably stay that way, but it wouldn't hurt anything. About a month and a half later, it dried up 99% and there's only one tiny piece left of it! So it's completely damage free. Again, this is the only place I'll ever go because I know everyone here is reliable and honest and kind. :)

What can I say other than cheers...your are an oasis in a desert of planned obsolescence! Some water damage had my MacBook Air acting up...smc non resettable, fans running constantly, then my keyboard bugged out with nonsense coming from all of its keys... Genius Bar quoted me a repair requiring an entire logic board replacement...was my 2015 Air even worth that cost anymore? There it sat, with me vacillating between the refurbished store and a 'college try' at a repair A local certified Apple repair guy WAS able to simply replace a cable, and the sensors that had failed in the logic board according to Genius Bar now worked fine, trouble was that my own inquisitive (read maladroit) nature found me breaking the battery connector off the board while monkeying around inside the Air, a repair which the local independent tried to fix without success (pads were gone he said..no joy for me). Again I was looking at logic board replacement for 'slightly' less than Genius Bar repair, or to just use it as a constantly plugged in desktop machine(???). Upon pick up at my local guy I immediately put it into the mail to Louis and the guys at Rossmann...little more than a week later I am typing this review on said formerly wet and sad MacBook Air. In fact, they even honored the lower of the two quotes I was sent! That said, there is no going back for me. My exposure to Rossmann Repair Group was initially through late night viewings of his youtube channel, whether it was the measured delivery of his absolute common sense views on 'right to repair' issues, or indeed, of the world in general, perhaps it also being a 'relaxation video' (like watching paints being swirled together or cookies being frosted) aspect of watching heated liquid flux run across a board, I honestly don't know...but I'll take it all! Bravo!

These guys are the best in the business. I sent in a MacBook for and analysis to see if my laptop was worth saving from water damage. They gave me a complete detailed report as to why it wasn't. This came in handy when I went to sell the unit for parts on eBay. I copied all the notes and used them in my description so to completely inform the buyer. You get what you pay for and these guys are worth every cent.

5 star ratingThese guys are LEGIT! Don't waste your time with anyone else. I had water damage in a newer iphone and had YEARS of pics which were not backed up. I was given a cost and time estimate reflective of what was on their website. Their service exceeded the high-points of both estimates. It was definitely not a drop-in the bucket cost, but worth the service. I was notified 24 hours later that my data recovery was complete. Unfortunately, my phone was not repairable but that didn't matter much to me anyway. Great service with these guys and glad to find them locally as well. If you're not in NYC- they will coordinate with you.
