Macbook spill damage is serious because it corrodes sensitive electronic components, but it’s not unfixable. At Apple, you will hear quotes of $750 to $1600 to repair Macbook water damage. Their claim will be that they must replace the entire board with an overpriced tier 3 or tier 4 repair. The reality is that they are not interested in getting their hands dirty fixing the totally reusable parts you already have: it’s easier for them to gouge your wallet by replacing everything.

macbook water damage repair

As soon as you get liquid in your Macbook you should stop using it. Turning it on will just make it worse as this allows electricity to flow through shorted wet components causing it to look like the board in the picture below. Even when the damage is this extensive we can repair it, but it is best to minimize damage so we have a higher likelihood of fixing your board in a reasonable timeframe.

When you come to Rossmann’s, WE fix it!

What sets Rossmann Repair Group apart? Most companies must outsource component-level motherboard repair because they don’t know how to do it or they don’t have the necessary tools. 5 star ratingMy daughter brought her MacBook Air to me a the end of May complaining that the fans were blowing full-blast and that the computer was running slow. Turns out there had been a minor tea spill into the keyboard / trackpad area. We shipped the laptop to Rossman, which received the machine on 5/29. I hadn't heard back on 6/7, so sent a message and got a quick response that it was still being looked at. On 6/13, I got an update that the laptop seemed to be working OK and that they couldn't find anything physically wrong with it. I described the problem again and they took a longer look, this time reporting back that the keyboard was demonstrating some flakiness, but that it was passing all of their other tests and looked good under the microscope. I accepted their repair estimate to replace the keyboard ($225); they shipped the computer back on 6/22 and I received it back on 6/25. Unfortunately, on the first boot, the laptop fans came on full blast and the computer was obviously still throttling itself. I'm not certain who I spoke to when I called back, but they were very helpful, asking me to ship it back to them and that they would take care of it on the same day that they got it back. True to their word - they received it back on 6/28, identified the problem (trackpad cable), repaired the computer and shipped it out again the same day. We just received the computer back this afternoon (7/2) and it is now working beautifully. They charged nothing for the second (successful) attempt at repair. In total, we were out $275 including our shipping costs, which seems very reasonable considering we have a working laptop with a brand-new keyboard (and either a new trackpad or a new trackpad cable, not 100% clear which was replaced). Overall, communication was good. Outside of their automated system, they were not proactive in their communication but responded immediately to all phone / email inquiries and were always pleasant and polite to speak with. Their response to the initial failed repair was world-class. It took almost exactly one month from the day that they first received the machine until I had the working machine back in my hands. This is not a complaint, but rather information for others considering using them as a mail-order service. I expect that their turnaround time may vary depending on how busy they are. In any event, I am very satisfied with the outcome and would recommend them to anyone looking for a less-expensive and professional alternative to taking a broken phone or machine in to an Apple store.

I spilled a spoonful of milk and cereal on my Macbook Air and two weeks later, the wifi stops working. I walked in for a diagnosis and it turned out that replacing the wifi card twice didn't work. One of his employees told me that something was wrong with the logic board and it'd be $325. I accepted this, knowing Apple would have charged me twice the price most likely. Two days later, I get a call in the morning that my machine is ready for pickup. I get there and ask the guy how much it'd be and he told me they won't actually charge me, and instead asked for a good tip. I left $40 in the tip jar. So there you go folks. 40 bucks for what would have cost hundreds at Apple. Skip the Apple Store and take your machine to Rossmann.

5 star ratingI am out of state, and I shipped my liquid damaged keyboard MacBook to Rossmann on the recommendation of a friend. Their response time to my emails was great. It took a little longer than I expected, but the new keyboard is perfect and much cheaper than Apple would have charged. Great service.

What can I say? These guys are the best at what they do. I brought in a 2019 Macbook Pro that suffered from an entire beer bottle spill. At the end of all the repairs, a month later of getting it back, it kept panicking and shutting off with high cpu usage tasks. They then refunded me the repair costs since it was not able to be saved. I ended up also selling it to them for parts and now happy with my Lenovo. My two friends who I also referred are super happy with their services as well. They are also just finished a hard drive recovery and transferred the data to a new hard drive for me. Top notch service and fairness. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM.

I'm in disbelief that I'm writing this from my MacBook which I had written off as totaled after a major coffee spill. Took it to a local place that didn't fix motherboards but gave me the tip for Rossman Group. Felt like a long shot mailing my laptop to NYC, but wow such a professional process at a fair price, and if they can't fix it they don't charge you. But they FIXED it. Like nothing happened fixed it, and then actually mailed it back to me. I'm so impressed and relieved, thank you Rossman Group.

They were fair and honest when I had a Mac book pro brought to them. My brother spilled something on it and they only charged for a cleaning. Apple wanted to charge over $800 for a new board.

I had a user who spilled a latte on his 2017 15" MacBook Pro. I called around to local repair shops (Buffalo, NY) to try and get a quote to have cleaning done. One said, "Because were an Apple AASP, Apple doesn't allow us to give quotes for liquid damage repair over the phone, and we have to follow whatever Apple says we need to do, so you'll have to bring it in."Because of this I figured they'd simply want to replace all the parts that came in contact with liquid and the service would cost somewhere around 1500$.I had heard of Louis Rossmanns shop before; I myself am an IT professional and enjoy watching his videos and hearing his commentary on various topics. But I honestly never actually thought I'd send his shop something to fix. Not because I was worried about the quality of repair, or the cost, only because I never thought I'd need to ship a Mac all the way to Austin to get it fixed. But, I did.I called up Rossmann Repair, and immediately was given a very reasonable quote over the phone. After which I began the process and shipped the Mac to Rossmann Repair to be cleaned initially, and if anything else was wrong, they'd replace the keyboard and or perform board repair depending on how much damage actually occurred. In any case it was soooo much less than purchasing a new device or having an AASP work on it.Throughout the process communication was great. The ticket was updated as soon as any new information was available. In about a week I was notified that the repair was complete and all that was needed was the ultrasonic cleaning. Instead of paying 1500$ for a repair I had a mere 100$ cost for cleaning plus the amount it cost me to ship it to them! The Mac is back with its user, has the new nickname "Latte Mac", and is working just as good as before it had a latte dumped all over it.I would highly recommend anyone needing a repair on their Mac to contact Rossmann Repair because I'm sure they'll do a great job and cost so much less than an AASP. Either way, I will definitely be doing business with them again if ever I need a Mac repaired.

5 star ratingMy laptop was ruined from water leakage in my bag and I was so worried that all of my data would be gone. I went to Apple and they said to buy a completely new laptop, which is costly. RRG repaired my laptop in A DAY with a reasonable price and I was so relieved. Weeks later, by laptop is working perfectly. I highly recommend this company for electronic repairs!

I am glad I found your videos youtube and decided to have you guys handle the repair. Thanks and keep up the great work on both repairs and youtube!

5 star ratingI am so so thankful for this company, they fixed my 2015 Mac that I totally thought was dead from water damage (thank you toddler for dumping an entire cup of water on top of it). Speedy repairs and shipping times with prompt communication. Only place for improvement would be the stickers that they put on the devices, they leave a bit of residue when removed, thankfully we had goo gone so not a big deal and so minor that I can barely complain about it. Overall so so happy with the service and repairs and I highly recommend them. Thank you!! -Harding

5 star ratingSent my Mac for a water damage charging port and the transaction was transparent I’ve received a proposal and my computer is living again after Apple told me it couldn’t be repaired and the repair would cost so much I would be better buying a new one.

Now I know why you are having these many stars :)Preface : A day before Christmas, unfortunately I spilled hot tea on my macbook pro and the panic started. Having a complete newbee to apple damage, I ended up at Apple Care where I got an estimate of 1200 bucks. It was sufficient to make me faint.I lost complete hopes and felt like stranded. I searched a lot on google and found multiple sites where they claimed that they will repair it in days time. But somehow reading all stars for Rossmann, I decided to go there. All the vacations and the workload they had, it took a while to get the laptop back as it was on day 1 but they nailed Apple Care in all ways.Service : Just as heard, got it repaired in exact timeframe as it was committed (couple of days in advance actually). Amazing service and clear communication on everything. I was told to call after 3 weeks (vacations and work load as mentioned) so I decided not to call in between and they themselves called me before that time.Quality : Seems just like day 1 when I first saw my laptop.Price : I had to pay only 40% of what I was told at Apple Care.. Nailed it completely.Advise : Don't be idiot like me to spill on the liquid on your laptop. If you somehow achieve to be an idiot, land up here.Recommended for sure :)

These are the ones to trust- forget apple! First of all, their email response to my inquiry was extensive and in depth. Someone really took the time to analyze my situation and give me their expert advice. I brought it in for a diagnostic and found the LCD needed to be replaced from water damage. They were extremely honest and actually advised me against fixing it (turning away business!)-that’s when you know they’re trying to help the customer. I also search elsewhere for pricing on an LCD replacement, and they are the cheapest I found. Even if they weren’t, I would still pay more to have them work on my devices. They also have 3 awesome cats for moral support. Everyone was extremely kinda and helpful. Top quality service. I will take my devices here and recommend them from now on! Thanks guys!

5 star ratingVery friendly and intuitive.I went in to see if I could repair my friend's water damaged Macbook and if they couldn't fix it, I didn't have to pay anything thing. Unfortunately, it was unsalvageable, and they held true to their word. I didn't have to pay a penny for it.Despite being unable to fix an expensive laptop that I was hoping to see come alive again, I am greatly impressed by the great customer service. The gentleman at the counter helped me quickly diagnose what the issues were, what parts were damages by the water, what had corrosion, etc.If I ever somehow end up owning a MacBook myself, I will definitely be coming to these guys should it fail on me.Keep up the good work

5 star ratingI have a 2014 Retina MacBook Pro that took a bath in a puddle of coffee. I am familiar with dealing with liquid damage. I cleaned the logic board with 91% isopropyl but still did not have a functional machine. On a whim I sent it in knowing the component level work they do having watched youtube repairs. I was blown away. They started with an ultrasonic clean, and that was enough to have my machine running like normal again. I am so happy with the level of service, fair pricing, and communication I've received all along the way. These people do great work, and charge a fair price.
