Macbook spill damage is serious because it corrodes sensitive electronic components, but it’s not unfixable. At Apple, you will hear quotes of $750 to $1600 to repair Macbook water damage. Their claim will be that they must replace the entire board with an overpriced tier 3 or tier 4 repair. The reality is that they are not interested in getting their hands dirty fixing the totally reusable parts you already have: it’s easier for them to gouge your wallet by replacing everything.

macbook water damage repair

As soon as you get liquid in your Macbook you should stop using it. Turning it on will just make it worse as this allows electricity to flow through shorted wet components causing it to look like the board in the picture below. Even when the damage is this extensive we can repair it, but it is best to minimize damage so we have a higher likelihood of fixing your board in a reasonable timeframe.

When you come to Rossmann’s, WE fix it!

What sets Rossmann Repair Group apart? Most companies must outsource component-level motherboard repair because they don’t know how to do it or they don’t have the necessary tools. With Rossmann Group, the buck stops here. We repair your Macbook, we repair your logic board, and you only deal with us. Our company has helped instruct thousands of other repair technicians on how to perform these repairs via free YouTube contentguides, and personal instruction

5 star ratingThese guys are LEGIT! Don't waste your time with anyone else. I had water damage in a newer iphone and had YEARS of pics which were not backed up. I was given a cost and time estimate reflective of what was on their website. Their service exceeded the high-points of both estimates. It was definitely not a drop-in the bucket cost, but worth the service. I was notified 24 hours later that my data recovery was complete. Unfortunately, my phone was not repairable but that didn't matter much to me anyway. Great service with these guys and glad to find them locally as well. If you're not in NYC- they will coordinate with you.

5 star ratingMy MacBook Air got dropped in a body of water and stopped turning on. After getting a consult from a different group, they referred me here as they didn't have the right parts to extract the data from my hard drive. Initial consult took maybe 5-10 minutes of waiting before they told me they would be able to extract the data and move it to a new location (which ended up being my new MacBook Pro) for $100. This was versus the $750 Apple was quoting me and they would need me to ship my laptop to them (no thanks). Initially told me it would take one day. The following day when I called to follow up, they mentioned it may take another day, mostly I believe because they were busy. After letting them know I needed my laptop for work they were able to accommodate me and get it done that same day. Overall, quick/easy/efficient/good price point. The only downside to their reputable nature is that they are quite busy. Fortunately for me, my issue was relatively straightforward. But for a more complex issue their turnaround time will likely be slower, so make sure you let them know your time frame and get a time quote in addition to your $$$ quote for your own planning. Thanks! Will definitely return (but hope I won't have to).

If i could give more than 5 stars I would. Recently had my macbook air with liquid damage to be repaired with them. The first shop i took it to wanted $50 in a diagnostic fee but with barely looking at the laptop said it wasnt worth to repair. Looked up Rossmann Repair group and found they were close to me. I went by and dropped the device off with them. While I was there they were able to diagnose what the problem was, for Free! and was able to fix my problem that same day! Wouldn't recommenced that you take your Apple devices anywhere else for repairs!

5 star ratingMy daughter brought her MacBook Air to me a the end of May complaining that the fans were blowing full-blast and that the computer was running slow. Turns out there had been a minor tea spill into the keyboard / trackpad area. We shipped the laptop to Rossman, which received the machine on 5/29. I hadn't heard back on 6/7, so sent a message and got a quick response that it was still being looked at. On 6/13, I got an update that the laptop seemed to be working OK and that they couldn't find anything physically wrong with it. I described the problem again and they took a longer look, this time reporting back that the keyboard was demonstrating some flakiness, but that it was passing all of their other tests and looked good under the microscope. I accepted their repair estimate to replace the keyboard ($225); they shipped the computer back on 6/22 and I received it back on 6/25. Unfortunately, on the first boot, the laptop fans came on full blast and the computer was obviously still throttling itself. I'm not certain who I spoke to when I called back, but they were very helpful, asking me to ship it back to them and that they would take care of it on the same day that they got it back. True to their word - they received it back on 6/28, identified the problem (trackpad cable), repaired the computer and shipped it out again the same day. We just received the computer back this afternoon (7/2) and it is now working beautifully. They charged nothing for the second (successful) attempt at repair. In total, we were out $275 including our shipping costs, which seems very reasonable considering we have a working laptop with a brand-new keyboard (and either a new trackpad or a new trackpad cable, not 100% clear which was replaced). Overall, communication was good. Outside of their automated system, they were not proactive in their communication but responded immediately to all phone / email inquiries and were always pleasant and polite to speak with. Their response to the initial failed repair was world-class. It took almost exactly one month from the day that they first received the machine until I had the working machine back in my hands. This is not a complaint, but rather information for others considering using them as a mail-order service. I expect that their turnaround time may vary depending on how busy they are. In any event, I am very satisfied with the outcome and would recommend them to anyone looking for a less-expensive and professional alternative to taking a broken phone or machine in to an Apple store.

Rossman Hits It Out of the Park Again!!! So this is the 2nd time I have sent a MacBook to Rossman Repair to be fixed. I came across them while frantically looking for someone to repair my MacBook. The first time I had a liquid spill and this time it was a problem with the keypad. Needless to say that the local company that services Apple products where I live wanted to charge me US$1200.00 to replace the entire top case. I called Rossman Repair, sent it via Fedex, of course they could look at it and of course they fixed it for, wait for it... US$250.00 and it's working like a dream. It had nothing to do with the top case. It was a keypad issue. Thanks again Rossman Team. You are absolutely amazing, no fluff, no gimmicks, just a well oiled machine.

Couldn't ask for a better experience. I spilled liquid on my Macbook Air. It wasn't a big spill, but I sent it to Rossman Repair and they cleaned it, fixed the wonky charging port, and unstuck a few keys. All of this for the cost of shipping! I can't recommend them enough. It took two weeks for the mail in repair, and most of that was shipping time. They were professional and responsive to top if off!

Sent in a water damaged MacBook Air that another tech tried fixing by cleaning with alcohol unsuccessfully. Screws where missing on the back and from the fan. Rossmann fixed it within 3 days and shipped it back working perfectly and with all the missing screws replaced.

5 star ratingI cannot say enough good things about Rossman Repair Group. Amazing value for the money, outstanding customer service, quick turnaround. If you have a broken Macbook, this is the place to go. A friend spilled water on their Macbook and it wouldn't power on. A local shop quoted them $3500 (!!!) just to attempt to recover the data. So my friend reached out to me and asked if there was anything I could do. I did some homework and found out that this particular Macbook (as with many Macs) had its SSD soldered to the board. So data recovery would indeed be a challenge. But $3500? Ridiculous. After I determined that I could not perform the repair or recovery myself, I came across Rossman Repair Group. While they are in Texas, their mail-in service is clearly a big part of their business, and the estimate for data recovery was literally 90% less than what the local shop wanted - $350 plus shipping. Their online service for setting up the repair and mailing it in was top notch - they have clearly been doing this for a long time. Communication was outstanding, with a tech reaching out every step of the way and clearly describing what was possible, how much it would cost, and how long it would take. Even their terms of service are written in Plain English and not Inscrutable Legalese! $370 later, I got my friend's data back, in a little over a week from the time I mailed the computer out. That price included the data extraction, the portable drive to hold the recovered data, and return shipping.

5 star ratingTake your tech to Rossman!!! They are awesome and infinitely more helpful than going to the Apple store!! I took my water-damaged MacBook there and was met with patience and honesty. After making a quick check - in my plain sight, NOT secretly behind closed doors - to determine that my laptop could probably be repaired, they walked me through the process and the cost structure. I would pay the basic repair cost ONLY IF THEY SUCCEEDED in repairing it. Also they would keep me informed and would not proceed with anything requiring an additional cost without obtaining my approval first. I agreed to start the process and was pleasantly surprised that there was also NO UPFRONT COST! That's how fair and confident they are!

I HIGHLY recommend RRG and would go there again for a repair in a heartbeat. Thank you RRG for giving me options, freedom and respecting and supporting out rights to repair. MY TECH, MY CHOICE!

I love this place SO much. I unfortunately spilled about 16oz of water across my keyboard (with protector) on my MacBook Pro 2015, and did everything I could immediately to try and save it- wiped it down, turned it off, turned it upside down and brought it to be cleaned soon as the computer repair store across the street from me was open the next day. The technician there said it was really promising and would call me in about an hour. He held onto my computer for nearly a week and said it was not worth the repair. That he could try to replace the logic board- but that would be $600+ and may need more parts. I called an Apple approved repair shop in a neighboring town and they said they couldn't repair it because the logic board for this model wasn't even available to them and to just buy a refurbished or used one online for $600-$800. I did some research and found Rossmann Repair Group and decided to give them a try after talking with someone over the phone to get an estimate and confirmation that they would accept mail-ins and also not charge if they couldn't fix it which seemed totally worth it compared to the other options I found. I followed the form online, sent it in, and received a timely quote for $250 ($75 less than estimated over the phone!) They did the repairs I authorized and I now have my repaired computer back after 1 week! I could not recommend enough. You can even pay extra for an even speedier repair and shipping if needed. Thank you so much!

5 star ratingThe experience here is shockingly easy and transparent. My 2015 Macbook Air was soaked in dirty bleach water (leaked onto the open laptop from a hole right above in the ceiling, caused by asshat housemates upstairs who decided to clean their hole-ridden wooden floors by dumping a bunch of bleach on it--can't make this stuff up)... laptop only worked while connected to a power source, and when it was turned on, it made a helluva sound from the fan. I brought it into the Apple store. The genius told me that the logicboard was affected and it would cost 775+ to ship out for repair. The same man then told me to check out Rossmann Repair Group across town... I followed his suggestion. Walked into the store, laptop was opened up immediately. I was told logicboard is fine but battery and trackpad/track cable need to be replaced. They gave me the price ($275). I said ok! They made the repair. I was out of there in 15 minutes with a fully functioning laptop.I love this place.

I have sent my MacBook Air into Rossmann Repair Group twice now. It was definitely my fault... I spilled pop on it (AGAIN!). Anyway, I was so upset about it and thought that my computer was broken for good. I love my air, it's been really great for me. Anyway, we sent it in and within a couple of days I got an email with an estimate to repair. I signed the estimate and 2 days later I got another email letting me know its time to pay. Well... my final bill was $100 less than the quoted amount. I was shocked!!! It also included shipping. When my computer came back to me... it was perfect. They even cleaned it for me. Thanks so much. I love this repair company, seriously I am from Chicago and I send my laptop to New York just so these guys can fix it for me. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

5 star ratingSaved me from buying a new early 2015 MBP before its time was up. i didnt get to write this review at the time, as it was around the time RRG moved, and there was some issue about putting in reviews at that time. My glass of water was sitting next to the computer, and I reached for something...and knocked it over right onto the keyboard. YIkes. Anyway, I sent it to RRG and about week later, it was returned fixed. That was almost a year and a half ago, and I am writing this review on it right now. The work was done right, the price was more then fair, and this would have been unrepairable it it was up to Apple. It was completed in spite of apples refusal to supply parts. Bravo to RRG

5 star ratingPhenomenal repair shop! My moms Macbook pro 16 with coffee spills was pretty much done for, we were heart broken so much money down the drain, luckily my brother stumbled upon this shop online. They live in Chicago, mind you they took a hige leap of faith to mail it in. Long srory short they fixed it at a fraction of what it would cost -600 bucks! For coffee spills they usually switch mother boards ect and you get a bill similar to the price of the computer. They are super transparent about the process. In todays age very few places you can blindly trust, and why i would highly recommend Rossmans to any one around the country, they literally saved my mom from a $2800 loss, so happy! Months down the line im trying to swap out my hard drive in my 21.5 imac and finding the right tape is tricky. Ive heard heaps of horror story of screens falling off in the middle of the night... Any hoot i called them up and asked them for the info, they not only ready helped me over the phone, they also went ahead and gave me there supplier for the adhesive im looking for! This goes to show what an amazing store this is! Thanks guys you rock!
