Macbook spill damage is serious because it corrodes sensitive electronic components, but it’s not unfixable. At Apple, you will hear quotes of $750 to $1600 to repair Macbook water damage. Their claim will be that they must replace the entire board with an overpriced tier 3 or tier 4 repair. The reality is that they are not interested in getting their hands dirty fixing the totally reusable parts you already have: it’s easier for them to gouge your wallet by replacing everything.

macbook water damage repair

As soon as you get liquid in your Macbook you should stop using it. Turning it on will just make it worse as this allows electricity to flow through shorted wet components causing it to look like the board in the picture below. Even when the damage is this extensive we can repair it, but it is best to minimize damage so we have a higher likelihood of fixing your board in a reasonable timeframe.

When you come to Rossmann’s, WE fix it!

What sets Rossmann Repair Group apart? Most companies must outsource component-level motherboard repair because they don’t know how to do it or they don’t have the necessary tools. With Rossmann Group, the buck stops here. We repair your Macbook, we repair your logic board, and you only deal with us. Our company has helped instruct thousands of other repair technicians on how to perform these repairs via free YouTube contentguides, and personal instruction

All I can say is.. WOW. I spilled water on my laptop and couldn't find anywhere that would fix it, I kept thinking I would have to pay $1000+ for data recovery (always backup your files, kids) and thankfully I found Rossmann! I mailed it in right away! They do water damage, no problem. Patrick was great and super helpful through the process and made everything smooth sailing. They also fixed my Mac within 48 hours and shipped it right back out to me. It was like all I did was shutdown the computer! Everything is here, everything is till in its place, and I didn't have to buy a new laptop OR pay for data recovery. Thank you SO much, I can't even begin to explain how thankful and over the moon I am right now! USE THEIR SERVICES!

I accidentally spilled soda on my 2014 MacBook Air, and it completely shut off. The good old “stick it in rice overnight” remedy didn’t work.. A friend recommended this place to me so I mailed my laptop to NY from the south. I only have positive words for this place — great communication, quality work done, very transparent about their process, costs, repairs, etc. Everything is VERY reasonable and done in a timely manner. The team does a very thorough checkup to make sure everything’s working before they securely package it up and send it back to you. They also ship it back to you for free!! They’re obviously very specialized and only fix the necessary parts whereas Apple just replaces everything and practically charges you the rate of a brand new MacBook. Highly recommend this place!! If I break another one of my Apple products again, I’ll definitely send it back here.

Well Apple Care doesn't care that much unless instead of repair, they'd tell you to buy a mac product. I went in and they suggested it at first. I declined when they told me the price difference for a brand new macbook pro and the price to repair the one I currently possess. Now they said 755 for water damage, and honestly I was at my wit's end. Until I saw their vid, from one to another, I went to the store explained my situation in detail. Price, probable damage, and others, with a fair price. Well I'm writing from said mac, paid less, it was less severe than what Apple thought and I was satisfied completely by Rossman Group's service. I would recommend them to all of my family/friends. Thank You once again.

5 star ratingThank you Rossmann Repair Group for your honest and timely work on my 2014 15" Macbook Pro. I want to share my story here, after dropping off my Mackbook at a local Atlanta are Apple Store to repair a suspected swollen battery. I got a follow-up phone call stating that they would not replace my battery due to water damage unless the logic board was also replaced for a price exceeding $1400. When I went to the Apple Store to retrieve my Macbook, I was also able to get their photographic "evidence" of water damage. When got home I sent the photos to Rossman Repair Group, and they stated that the yellow substance on the circuit board that was common on boards from the factory and not evidence of water damage. I then sent my computer to their facility in New York, where the Rossman facility inspected my computer and replaced the swollen battery for $200, and now my computer back in action. When I was at the Apple store retrieving my notebook I felt like I was being played into writing-off my 5 year old notebook so that I would buy a new one. I hope that other people will read this review and consider independent repair options before taking what the geniuses at the Apple store may say as fact and then and throwing their money away.

5 star ratingTake your tech to Rossman!!! They are awesome and infinitely more helpful than going to the Apple store!! I took my water-damaged MacBook there and was met with patience and honesty. After making a quick check - in my plain sight, NOT secretly behind closed doors - to determine that my laptop could probably be repaired, they walked me through the process and the cost structure. I would pay the basic repair cost ONLY IF THEY SUCCEEDED in repairing it. Also they would keep me informed and would not proceed with anything requiring an additional cost without obtaining my approval first. I agreed to start the process and was pleasantly surprised that there was also NO UPFRONT COST! That's how fair and confident they are!

I HIGHLY recommend RRG and would go there again for a repair in a heartbeat. Thank you RRG for giving me options, freedom and respecting and supporting out rights to repair. MY TECH, MY CHOICE!

I cannot say enough good things about Rossman Repair Group. Amazing value for the money, outstanding customer service, quick turnaround. If you have a broken Macbook, this is the place to go. A friend spilled water on their Macbook and it wouldn't power on. A local shop quoted them $3500 (!!!) just to attempt to recover the data. So my friend reached out to me and asked if there was anything I could do. I did some homework and found out that this particular Macbook (as with many Macs) had its SSD soldered to the board. So data recovery would indeed be a challenge. But $3500? Ridiculous. After I determined that I could not perform the repair or recovery myself, I came across Rossman Repair Group. While they are in Texas, their mail-in service is clearly a big part of their business, and the estimate for data recovery was literally 90% less than what the local shop wanted - $350 plus shipping. Their online service for setting up the repair and mailing it in was top notch - they have clearly been doing this for a long time. Communication was outstanding, with a tech reaching out every step of the way and clearly describing what was possible, how much it would cost, and how long it would take. Even their terms of service are written in Plain English and not Inscrutable Legalese! $370 later, I got my friend's data back, in a little over a week from the time I mailed the computer out. That price included the data extraction, the portable drive to hold the recovered data, and return shipping.

5 star ratingThese guys are the best in the business. I sent in a MacBook for and analysis to see if my laptop was worth saving from water damage. They gave me a complete detailed report as to why it wasn't. This came in handy when I went to sell the unit for parts on eBay. I copied all the notes and used them in my description so to completely inform the buyer. You get what you pay for and these guys are worth every cent.

5 star ratingI had the pleasure of visiting the Rossmann Repair Group in NYC one day almost two years ago as friends of mine needed an evaluation of a broken Macbook Pro, a bad hard drive and possible data transfer. Louis Rossmann greeted us immediately and was very friendly and patient. He told us exactly what the problem was and said that the Macbook Pro was beyond repair due to bad GPU connections. In fact he saw this as soon as he turned it on, he could detect very faint lines on the screen which indicated this issue. He was very honest about this, he said that some places would get it to work for a while by heating it up and charging a few hundred dollars, but that the repair would not last long and it would certainly fail again. My friend asked him if he could transfer the data from the Macbook to a Mac Mini so it would work like the Macbook. He said he could and it would take a couple of days. We returned a few days later to pick everything up. The cost was very reasonable and my friends were very satisfied with the service. He gave the bad HD back to us, said it would require sending to a recovery center. Just honest. No ripoffs. In this tech repair industry, dishonesty is very common since tech people know the average person has no clue about any of this technology and there is almost no chance they would know if they are being fooled or how much the repair is really worth. I know this well since I also do computer and electronics repair and support myself and I know how easy it would be to fool customers left and right! I don't do this and I highly appreciate other tech experts who aren't tempted to profit from people's trust and innocence! So in summary, if you don't want to get ripped of and lied to, and are looking for a highly competent reliable technician, make sure you go here with your Mac equipment. If you like, you can stop by an Apple Genius bar first for a good laugh, while they give you the wrong diagnosis, quote you an insanely high repair price, and try to convince you to buy a whole new unit. Finally, if you want to be amazed, look for Louis Rossmann on YouTube and watch some of his videos where he shows exactly how he repairs the "unrepairable" and inspires many others to do their own repairs, start their own repair businesses and with his tireless entrepreneurial positive attitude even motivates disillusioned young students to not give up on school and go to college! (In fact one student said he was about to give up on education but after watching Louis on YouTube he made the decision to enter Med school! Now that's remarkable!)Louis is such a great guy, that in some cases where the issue is very minor, like a bad cable, he even does the repair for no charge! Try to find anybody who is willing to do anything for no charge these days! (The Genius bar would certainly tell you that your unit has been water damaged, when it wasn't, (maybe was in a humid room which would turn the water indicators red!) and quote you $1000 for a repair that would cost them $7 for the cable)Louis Rossmann is a hero, one of those rare individuals who make positive contributions to individuals and society every single day. I am pretty sure that anybody who gives him a bad review probably either is part of Apple, or considers Apple to be some kind of religious deity.

Trust the reviews. This place has great customer service, honest pricing and amazing turnaround time. Water spilled on my laptop unbeknownst to me and sat for days. It wouldn't turn on nor charge. I opened it up to find water w/ rust and corrosion and immediately made a Genius Bar appointment then scoured the internet for other solutions since I hadn't backed up my stuff, ever, and didn't want to lose anything. Found the YouTube page much like many others and got an email quote. The next day I took the hour and a half drive because the reviews seemed consistent and I didn't want to hear the bad news I knew I'd get from Apple. Got a brief diagnosis when I got there and later on that night they called and told me it would be an easy fix. Went over pricing with me every step of the way. I had to get a new keyboard, battery and something else I'm not remembering. Total repair cost w/ tax: $598. Dropped off Friday 12/04 for repairs. Picked up Monday 12/07 fixed. Highly recommend for water damage issues.

Still in shock!! Rossmann Repair Group is AMAZING! Was planning to toss out our MacBook Air after a small water spill rendered it useless -- would have been more than it originally cost to repair through Apple. But, seriously, in the space of ONE WEEK, this company had it evaluated, quoted, repaired AND shipped back to me, all for about 20% of what Apple planned to charge. Did I mention superior communication and customer service, on top of computer repair skills?! We're so grateful! So glad we ran across Rossmann Repair Group in a Google search! :) Thank you!

5 star ratingI would give them infinite stars if I could!!!!! Rossmann Repair Group is HONEST, reliable, efficient, and very caring. My Macbook Pro (2017) had an extremely sticky and annoying spacebar and was supposed to be eligible for Apple's free keyboard replacement service, so I took it into an Apple authorized repair shop. That shop took five days to open it after I dropped it off and then called me to say that since the internal liquid sensors went off, Apple would be charging me $1200 flat fee to make "any necessary repairs." So I took it to Rossmann and explained the situation. They first opened up the laptop and assessed the liquid damage. Rossmann assured me that there was no liquid inside the computer and everything would remain fine, they just had to replace my entire keyboard unfortunately. I planned to take the laptop home and think about it, but I turned around and brought it back to Rossmann because I figured the problem wouldn't get any better if I left it alone. They asked me to wait a few minutes in the store while they looked at it, and less than 10 minutes later came back and had fixed the stickiness by tweaking with the spacebar. Rossmann did all this for me FREE OF CHARGE. I will never go to any other computer or phone repair company.

5 star ratingThe experience here is shockingly easy and transparent. My 2015 Macbook Air was soaked in dirty bleach water (leaked onto the open laptop from a hole right above in the ceiling, caused by asshat housemates upstairs who decided to clean their hole-ridden wooden floors by dumping a bunch of bleach on it--can't make this stuff up)... laptop only worked while connected to a power source, and when it was turned on, it made a helluva sound from the fan. I brought it into the Apple store. The genius told me that the logicboard was affected and it would cost 775+ to ship out for repair. The same man then told me to check out Rossmann Repair Group across town... I followed his suggestion. Walked into the store, laptop was opened up immediately. I was told logicboard is fine but battery and trackpad/track cable need to be replaced. They gave me the price ($275). I said ok! They made the repair. I was out of there in 15 minutes with a fully functioning laptop.

I love this place.
