“My story isn't much different than anyone else on here leaving a Rossmann review, but I feel compelled to write all this anyway. After importing 14GB of RAW photos from my brand new camera to my 13" MBP (A2338), I started to excitedly sift through my gorgeous sunset photos in Lightroom. After 5 minutes of editing, my MacBook died. Wouldn't turn on, wouldn't charge, wouldn't make any sound. It's always been well taken care of and I was dumbfounded as to why this happened. Absolutely clueless as to what to do next, I took it to the "Genius Bar". After a 5 minute diagnosis, I was told the logic board was bad -$599 to replace it, no data recovery. They quickly referred me to Drive Savers who I learned would want anywhere between $1000-3000 to potentially resolve my issues and recover my data. I did a few days worth of digging around the internet for cheaper solutions and settled on a local specialty Mac shop here in NY. I brought my MacBook in to their shop and they told me if they weren't able to resolve the issue, they'd send it off to Rossmann. Well, they airmailed my paperweight down to Austin and within a week, I was pleasantly surprised to see my MacBook active in Austin via the Find My app! For $450, the team at Rossmann had the issue fixed and I am now typing from said machine. I couldn't be happier with the whole experience. Even though I didn't deal with Rossmann Group directly, they made the magic happen. Thank you!”
MacBook Logic Board Repair Service
MacBook logic board repair costs $200 to $625 depending on model year: $200 to $250 for pre-2015 unibody models, $325 for 2016 to 2018 MacBooks, and $425 to $625 for 2019+ models with Touch Bar or T2 chips. Apple typically quotes $750 to $1,600 for a full board replacement. We repair the existing board at component level under a microscope, replacing only the failed chips, capacitors, or power management ICs. This preserves your data (no board swap means your SSD contents stay intact) and costs a fraction of Apple's price. Turnaround is 3 to 7 business days after evaluation. Every repair includes a 1-year warranty. If we cannot fix the board, you pay nothing. Free evaluation for walk-in customers at our Austin lab or via nationwide mail-in. We do not service models older than 2013 or the 2011 GPU failure.
Apple said replace the entire board? We have a better solution. Our experts repair your existing MacBook logic board at component level, typically in just 2-5 business days. This saves you time, money, and your data compared to a full board replacement. No fix = no fee.
Walk-in to our Austin store or mail-in your MacBook from anywhere. Free evaluation, clear flat-rate pricing, 1 Year warranty.

Our Logic Board Repair Process
We take a thorough, professional approach to component-level board repair. Your MacBook isn't working - here's how we bring it back to life:
- Free Diagnostic: First, we diagnose your MacBook to confirm the logic board is the culprit and identify exactly what's wrong. We'll also check other components (battery, etc.) to ensure there are no surprises. After diagnosis, we provide a firm quote (within the pricing range above) and get your approval to proceed.
- Board Repair & Component Replacement: Our technicians then get to work on the logic board itself. Using advanced tools (microscopes, soldering stations, schematics), we pinpoint failed components or damaged circuitry. We replace bad chips, blown fuses, corroded connectors - whatever the board needs - with high-quality parts. For liquid damage, we always perform a deep ultrasonic cleaning bath to remove corrosion before and after repairs.
- Testing in a Complete MacBook: Once the board repair is done, we reassemble your MacBook (we have to have the whole machine for this!). We then test every function: does it turn on reliably? Charge properly? Run on battery? Wi-Fi, keyboard, trackpad, sound, etc. We verify that your MacBook is fully functional and the original issue is resolved.
- Quality Control & Warranty: We double-check the repair under both light and heavy usage to ensure it's stable. Finally, we return your MacBook to you with a 1 Year warranty on the logic board repair. In the unlikely event of an issue resurfacing, you're covered - and even beyond 1 Year, we'll support you as much as we can.
Typical turnaround: Most logic board repairs are completed within 3-7 business days. This does not include time spent in transit/shipping. We keep most replacement chips in stock for fast service. If you need your Mac back sooner, ask us about rush options - we can often accommodate urgent repairs.
Real MacBook Board Repairs on Camera
We pride ourselves on transparency. Many shops won't show you what they actually do - we will. In fact, we've been sharing MacBook logic board repairs on YouTube for years, so you can see exactly how we fix these "unfixable" boards. Check out the playlist below to watch us repair actual customer boards (no scripts, no BS):
Why show our work?
We believe in "show, don't tell." Anyone can claim they do great work. We prefer to prove it. Louis Rossmann (our founder) started the trend of live-streaming and uploading real repair sessions so customers can see the skill and effort that goes into component-level logic board repair. It's educational and assures you that when we say we fixed something, we actually did the work.
You'll see us diagnose issues, replace chips, and bring dead MacBooks back to life. No camera tricks - just honest repair. It's one reason we have a loyal following and why so many Apple Store "unrepairable" cases end up at our door. Feel free to watch and learn!
Why Choose Rossmann for Logic Board Repair?
We know you have options, so what makes Rossmann Repair Group different? In short: we actually fix what others won't. We built our reputation on component-level logic board repair, and we treat our customers honestly. Here are a few reasons people from around the world trust us with their MacBooks:
Permanent Solutions, Not Band-Aids
We fix the root cause of your board's failure. That's why we confidently offer a 1 Year warranty. We're not just temporarily getting your Mac to turn on; we aim for a lasting repair. No "warranty ends, problem returns" nonsense here.
No Parts Swapping or Upsells
Some shops will take advantage of a dead MacBook by upselling other parts or even stealing components (since you can't turn it on to check). We never do that. We stock all necessary chips and parts, so we have no need to scavenge from your machine. You get back exactly what you sent us - except now it works.
Mail-In or Walk-In, Nationwide
Whether you're around the corner in Austin or across the country (or overseas!), our service is available to you. Locals can visit our store for a face-to-face experience. Not local? No problem - our mail-in process is easy, and we successfully repair devices shipped to us from all over the world.
Chips & Parts in-stock!
We use top-quality components for your repair. Many of the chips on a Mac logic board (power controllers, drivers, etc.) are made by third-party manufacturers - not Apple - and are readily available. We source genuine parts equivalent to or better than the originals. No sketchy knockoffs that compromise your Mac's longevity.
Guaranteed Workmanship
We stand behind our repairs with a 1 Year warranty. If the same issue comes back within 3 months, we'll fix it again free of charge. Our goal is to make sure your MacBook stays working. And even after 1 Year, we're here to support you - our customer service doesn't expire.
Trusted Repair Experts
We've been doing component-level MacBook repairs for over a decade and have tens of thousands of happy customers. Our techs have seen it all - there's a reason Louis Rossmann's repair videos have millions of views. When you choose us, you're choosing a team that other repair shops look to for guidance.
The Fine Print
No board-only repairs - send the whole MacBook.
For us to warranty and fully test your repair, we need the entire laptop, not just the bare logic board. When people send only the board, inevitably something else ends up being an issue (cables, components, etc.) once it's back in their machine. By sending the complete MacBook, we can assemble and verify everything works before returning it to you. We do not offer warranty on board-only jobs.
No 2011 GPU repairs, no models older than 2008.
The infamous 2011 MacBook Pro GPU failure cannot be permanently fixed - replacement graphics chips are either unavailable or just as failure-prone. We do not service this particular issue. Additionally, very old Mac models (original 2008 MacBook Air, 2006-2008 plastic MacBooks, etc.) are often not economical to repair due to part scarcity. If you're unsure about your model, feel free to contact us and we'll let you know if we can help.
What MacBook Repair Customers Say
“I used their mail-in service and followed their simple instructions on how to send it it. First fill out a form, then you get a ticket number and write it down and put it in the box you ship the device in. Few days later from delivery I got an email indicating diagnosis was beginning. 2 days later I got a full quote and was fairly priced, and was accurate on what their website had stated it possibly could total up to be. 2 days later, it's completed and shipped out Rather spending 600+ for a new board from Apple, with no possibility of data recovery, I got to keep the same board, retain my data, and was done cheaper in the same amount of time it would have taken to do their mail in service which is what the Apple store would have done. Amazing how I went from a MacBook that was completely dead, no signs of power going through tthe board, to a smooth running as good as new Mac. Highly recommend their services and his YouTube channel.”
“I just got my Macbook Pro back from RRG. I have to say I was overjoyed and honestly getting my Macbook Pro back was the one time I felt pure joy in a while. I caught Louis on the phone a couple of the times that I called and he is super nice, incredibly nice to customers. I called in to tell him I wanted rush service and he noted that I approved $45 rush service. I called the beginning of the next week to see what the status was because it had been delivered on Thursday. Louis said they were in the middle of replacing the battery now, and then within the hour I got an email saying it was done. They did not charge me the rush service charge, which I didn't realize until after I paid and it shipped, but the was a duplicated repair charge on the invoice that I called and noted to them, which they promptly fixed. This leads me to believe that they waived the rush charge. These guys are awesome and made a daunting experience of being without my Macbook Pro for a week super easy. In contrast-- Geek Squad (Best Buy) said they needed to send it off to Apple for a month, and Microcenter, while I'm very impressed that they were able to do it in store, wanted $500 for the repair, which $300 of that was Apple's charge for the battery, that they're forced to use because they are an AASP. My understanding is they replace the whole backing and not just the battery. But here's the thing-- regardless of both places and even though all my data is backed up on the cloud, I simply did not trust to leave my Macbook Pro with either Microcenter (because they are an AASP only, because they're an awesome store with very capable people) or *shudder* Best Buy. Thank you so much Louis for being awesome, and all the rest of the guys. I don't know who the other guys were I spoke with but everyone was incredibly kind.”
“True story: I found the shop through Louis's youtube. Love his content. So I didn't even think twice about trusting the repair I needed for my macbook 13" 2017. One of my usb-c ports died, and my battery was bad. Here's where things get interesting. I got an update saying my facetime camera failed during QA testing after the repair. This was odd to me because I used it a couple of hours before coming to the shop on a video conference. Needless to say, when I heard back from them after a week I was pretty upset and frustrated because it "sounded" like I would end up paying for a complete screen replacement. However, this is where you know you are working with professionals. After some dialogue, they did address that they wanted to come to a mutual beneficial compromise. I offered the suggestion that they reimburse me for a webcam I ended up buying after the call (I was without my macbook for two weeks, and I'm a software engineer who NEEDS it for a living, the time table was reasonable considering the holiday and the unexpected issues that came up). Camera was $50. They agreed after showing them proof. But Kevin talked to the manger, and they reimbursed me $100 for all the trouble. STUFF LIKE THIS IS WHAT MAKES A BAD SITUATION INTO A VERY ACCEPTABLE SITUATION!!! Just the fact that doubled my ask, I appreciated it. I don't blame them for the camera failure. I don't think they did anything to make it fail. Things happen. But they did take responsibility for the situation. Which I am grateful for. Anyways, what started off as a souring feeling turned into a pleasant compromise. Also because they are WAYYY cheaper than going through apple for the same exact repair. I honestly can't recommend any other place for your repair needs. Thank you to all the hard working people at the shop. Thanks to Kevin and his manager.”
