No Fix, No Fee Data Recovery Guarantee

Rossmann Group's no fix, no fee guarantee means you pay nothing if we cannot recover your data. There are no diagnostic fees, no evaluation fees, and no attempt fees. We evaluate your hard drive, SSD, iPhone, or other device at zero cost, provide a firm quote before work begins, and charge only when we deliver the specific files you requested. Many competitors advertise a "free evaluation" but charge $50 to $150 to return your drive if they cannot recover it or if you decline their quote. Some add "media fees" or "attempt fees" on top. We charge none of these. The evaluation is free, the quote is free, and saying no costs you nothing. You define what counts as a successful recovery before any paid work starts. If we do not deliver those files, you owe $0.

How It Works

The "Free Evaluation" Trap

Many data recovery companies advertise free evaluations but bury fees in the fine print. After diagnosing your drive, they charge $50 to $150 just to ship it back if recovery fails or if you decline their quote. Others label this a "media fee," "handling fee," or "attempt fee." The result is the same: you pay for getting nothing back. Some companies also require non-refundable deposits before any work begins, with no guarantee those deposits lead to recovered data.

At Rossmann Group, the evaluation is free and the return is free. If we cannot recover your data, we return your device at no cost. No deposit is required on standard recoveries (firmware, logical, SSD). The only cases that require a deposit are head swaps and platter-level repairs ($1,200+), where a 50% deposit covers donor parts that are physically consumed during the procedure.

Why We Do This

You are already dealing with a stressful situation. You should not also worry about paying for failure. We are confident in our skills. If we cannot help you, we do not deserve your money.

What Services Does This Cover?

Our no-fix-no-fee guarantee applies to all recovery services: hard drive recovery, SSD recovery, RAID and NAS recovery, iPhone recovery, and MacBook logic board repair. See our recovery process for details on how we evaluate each case.

Hardware Repair vs. Software Locks

Our "no data, no fee" policy applies to hardware recovery. We do not bill for unsuccessful physical repairs. If we replace a hard drive read/write head assembly or repair a liquid-damaged logic board to a bootable state, the hardware repair is complete and standard rates apply. If data remains inaccessible due to user-configured software locks, a forgotten passcode, or a remote wipe command, the physical repair is still billable. We cannot bypass user encryption or activation locks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does 'no fix, no fee' mean in data recovery?
It means you pay nothing if we cannot recover the data you need. No diagnostic fees, no evaluation fees, no attempt fees. You receive a firm quote after our free evaluation and only pay that amount if recovery succeeds.
Are there any hidden fees or charges?
No. The quote you approve is the price you pay. The only additional costs are tax and the target drive we copy your data onto. If recovery fails, you owe $0 for the attempt. Return shipping is the only cost on unsuccessful cases if you want the original drive back.
What counts as a successful recovery?
You define success. Before work begins, you tell us which files or folders matter most. Recovery is successful when we deliver the data you requested. If the specific files you need are unrecoverable, you do not pay.
Do you require a deposit?
Only for head swap and platter-level cases ($1,200+), where a 50% deposit covers the cost of donor parts that are consumed during the repair. Firmware, logical, and SSD recoveries require no deposit.
Does the guarantee apply to hardware repairs like MacBook logic boards?
Our no-fee policy applies to data recovery. For hardware repair (MacBook logic board repair, liquid damage remediation), if we restore the device to a bootable state, the repair is complete and billable. If user-configured software locks, forgotten passcodes, or remote wipe commands block data access after a successful hardware repair, the physical repair is still billable.
Do other data recovery companies charge evaluation fees?
Many do. A common practice is offering a 'free evaluation' but charging $50 to $150 to return your drive if recovery is deemed unsuccessful or if you decline their quote. Some charge a 'media fee' or 'attempt fee' on top of that. At Rossmann Group, the evaluation is free, the quote is free, and declining the quote costs you nothing.
