General PC repair in Austin04/06

Work We Do Not Take, and Where to Send It

This is a data recovery lab. The bench here runs drive imaging, head stack and platter work under a clean bench, firmware and service area repair, NAND and controller work on SSDs, and board-level microsoldering on MacBook logic boards and iPhone boards. That is the whole scope.

We do not do general PC service. Virus and malware cleanup, Windows reinstalls and upgrades, tune-ups, printer and home network setup, new desktop builds, monitor repair, and on-site or in-home support are all outside what this bench is set up for. Taking that work would mean doing it worse than a shop that does it every day, so we do not take it.

If that is what you need in Austin, go to CompuPLUS on North Lamar. They handle Windows and Apple service, screen replacement, liquid damage, network installation, and general electronics repair, and they publicly list us as the lab they work with on the Austin repair side. We send general repair customers to them, and we keep the recovery and board-level work here.

Call them for hours before you drive over. If they open your machine and find a failed drive with data on it that matters, that part comes back to us.

Common questions05/06

Contact Questions

Common questions about reaching us, visiting our lab, and mail-in service.

What's the best way to contact Rossmann Repair Group?
Call us at (512) 212-9111 during business hours (Mon-Fri 10am-6pm CT) to speak directly with our technicians. You can also email help@rossmanngroup.com for non-urgent inquiries. We respond to emails within 24 hours.
Can I walk in without an appointment?
Yes, walk-ins are welcome during business hours Monday - Friday, 10am-6pm. We're located at 2410 San Antonio Street, Austin, TX 78705, a few minutes from UT Austin campus.
How does mail-in service work?
Pack your device in an anti-static bag with padding, include your contact information and a description of the issue, then ship it to our Austin lab with tracking and signature required. We'll evaluate it for free and send you a firm quote before starting any paid work.
How quickly will I get a quote?
For local walk-ins, usually same day. For mail-in devices, we provide a quote within 1-2 business days of receiving your device. Complex cases requiring deep diagnostics may take longer, but we'll keep you updated.
What should I bring for a walk-in visit?
Bring the device that needs repair or data recovery, any relevant power adapters or cables, and any passwords needed to access the device. If you have specific files you need recovered, let us know which ones are most important.
Where do I ship my device for mail-in service?
Ship to: Rossmann Repair Group Inc, 2410 San Antonio Street, Austin, TX 78705. Include your name, phone, email, and description of the problem. Use a carrier with tracking and signature required.
Do you do general PC repair, virus removal, or Windows setup?
No. This is a data recovery and board-level repair lab: drive imaging, clean bench mechanical work, firmware and service area repair, SSD NAND and controller work, and MacBook and iPhone logic board microsoldering. Virus and malware cleanup, Windows reinstalls, tune-ups, printer and network setup, desktop builds, monitor repair, and in-home support are outside our scope. In Austin we send that work to CompuPLUS, 5555 N Lamar Blvd, Ste C-122, Austin, TX 78751, (512) 240-2606. If they find a failed drive with data that matters, that part comes back to us.
Why don't you advertise a headline success rate?
Because those numbers are fabricated marketing. Recovery success depends on the failure mechanism and drive architecture. A Seagate Rosewood (ST2000LM007) with media cache corruption recovered via PC-3000 has a high likelihood of recovery; an NVMe SSD that has executed the TRIM/UNMAP (Deallocate) command has no chance of recovery because the controller instantly drops the logical-to-physical mapping in the flash translation layer, even before background garbage collection clears the physical NAND cells. We quote honestly based on what we find during the free evaluation.
