The Phison PS3110-S10 is an 8-channel SATA controller with onboard DRAM, found in many mid-range SSDs from 2016-2019. Its BCH error correction is less robust than modern LDPC, making drives paired with 3D TLC NAND vulnerable to uncorrectable bit errors over time. We recover Phison PS3110-S10-based SSDs using our PC-3000 system's Phison-specific firmware tools at our Austin lab.

How We Recover Phison PS3110-S10 SSDs

Firmware-Level Recovery

We recover Phison PS3110-S10-based SSDs using the PC-3000 SSD system with the Phison Active Utility. This provides direct access to the controller's diagnostic interface for firmware repair and FTL (Flash Translation Layer) reconstruction.

Firmware-level access preserves the NAND chip layout and avoids the complications of chip-off recovery. For most Phison PS3110-S10 failures, this is the primary recovery path.

Chip-Off Recovery

If the controller is dead and firmware-level access fails, we can desolder the NAND chips and read them directly. The Phison PS3110-S10 uses a NAND encoding that our tools can reconstruct, making chip-off a viable last resort.

Pricing

SSD firmware and logical recovery for the Phison PS3110-S10 typically costs $300 to $500. Controller-level failures requiring advanced diagnostics are $500 to $1,500. Chip-off recovery, when viable, is $1,500 to $2,500.

See our full pricing breakdown for details. Our No Data, No Fee guarantee means you pay nothing if we cannot recover your files.

Hard Drive Data Recovery Standards & Verification

Our Austin lab operates on a transparency-first model. We use industry-standard recovery tools, including PC-3000 and DeepSpar, combined with strict environmental controls to make sure your hard drive is handled safely and properly. This approach allows us to serve clients nationwide with consistent technical standards.

Open-drive work is performed in a laminar-flow bench filtered to 0.02 µm, verified using TSI P-Trak instrumentation.

Transparent History

Serving clients nationwide via mail-in service since 2008.

Media Coverage

Our repair work has been covered by The Wall Street Journal and Business Insider, with CBC News reporting on our pricing transparency. Louis Rossmann has testified in Right to Repair hearings in multiple states and founded the Repair Preservation Group.

Aligned Incentives

Our "No Data, No Charge" policy means we assume the risk of the recovery attempt, not the client.

Louis Rossmann's well trained staff review our lab protocols to ensure technical accuracy and honest service. Since 2008, his focus has been on clear technical communication and accurate diagnostics rather than sales-driven explanations.

We believe in proving standards rather than just stating them. We use TSI P-Trak instrumentation to verify that clean-air benchmarks are met before any drive is opened.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between BCH and LDPC error correction on Phison controllers?
The PS3110-S10 uses BCH error correction, which is less robust than the LDPC used in newer Phison controllers like the E12 and E18. BCH works fine with MLC NAND, but when manufacturers paired the S10 with cheaper 3D TLC NAND, the weaker error correction cannot keep up with the higher bit error rates. This leads to uncorrectable read errors and eventual drive failure.
My Kingston UV400 is not detected in BIOS. Can you fix it?
This is typically a ROM mode failure on the PS3110-S10 controller. We use PC-3000 to access the controller through service pin shorting, which forces the S10 into its diagnostic interface. From there we can rebuild the firmware and recover the flash translation layer. Most UV400 ROM mode cases are recoverable.
What symptoms indicate a Phison S10 drive is failing?
Common signs include increasing read errors, sudden non-detection in BIOS, the drive showing as an unknown device in Device Manager, or the drive disappearing during use. Kingston UV400 and PNY CS1311 drives are the most common S10-based models we see with these symptoms.
Can power loss corrupt a Phison PS3110-S10 SSD?
Yes. The PS3110-S10 has DRAM cache, and a sudden power loss during a write operation can corrupt the flash translation layer stored in NAND. The drive may show RAW partitions, wrong capacity, or fail to detect entirely. We rebuild the FTL using PC-3000 to restore access to the data.
How much does Phison PS3110-S10 data recovery cost?
Recovery for PS3110-S10 drives runs $300-$900. Firmware repairs like ROM mode and FTL rebuilds are on the lower end at $300-$500. Cases requiring chip-off as a last resort are closer to $900. If we cannot recover your data, there is no charge.

Not an SSD issue? We also recover hard drives, RAID arrays, and iPhones.
